Random canon facts about Bucky I really enjoy:

-He listened to Woody Guthrie's music before April 1945 (Captain America: Man Out Of Time #1)

-He plays/owns a guitar (Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty Vol. 2 #1,4, also a few instances in the Golden Age comics (where he also owns/plays a harmonica)) (He's pretty musical is what I'm trying to say)

-He wanted to be a forest ranger (Captain America: Man Out Of Time #1) and always wanted to see the Grand Canyon

-He likes to journal, he's been journaling at least since WWII and picked it up again in the 21st century (Winter Soldier Vol. 2, Avengers/Invaders, various instances in the Golden Age comics)

-He's afraid of heights (Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty Vol. 1 #12) but is also a proficient pilot (many comics) and is one of the first humans Namor trusted to fly his ship (Invaders Vol. 1)

-He likes animals, especially cats (Winter Soldier Vol. 2 #1, various instances in the Golden Age comics, Bucky Barnes: Winter Soldier limited series, he literally has a pet cat, etc.)

-He loves chocolate (many comics)

-He's very good at poker and everyone (especially Nick Fury Sr.) thinks he cheats because he always wins (many comics)

-He loved pranking people when he was younger (pretty much all of the Golden Age comics)

couldn't draw for a solid few weeks there (???) and then all of a sudden yesterday and today i just pump out a few invaders doodles and yknow what, i'm ok with that.

will I stick to any of these designs for certain? I dunno. Clearly I haven't been even remotely consistent with drawing Steve LMAO.

We as a society don't talk about actual child soldier bucky barnes running around killing nazis and then cutting off their ears to keep as souvenirs (until dugan found out and confiscated them) enough for me...he's a little freak i adore him

I wasn’t so sure about this look at first, but it’s growing on me, and I *love* the man bun, sorry not sorry.

Do I logically know that Steve Rogers was born in 1922 and Bucky Barnes was born in 1925 making their age gap only 3 years? Yes. Do I choose to ignore that and in my head de-age Bucky and age Steve up so that they can have a larger age gap? Also yes. It just doesn’t sit right with me that Captain fucking America was 19 years old when he started Captain America-ing (or 18 if you believe he joined the army in 1940). Bucky was 16 when he met Steve? Boooooring, 16 is ancient! He was 20 when he fell off the plane and was captured by the Soviets? Okay good riddance, I don’t feel bad when stuff happens to adults in comics, they can probably handle it lmao /hj 😳

I see you Brubaker, I see what you are trying to do by aging Bucky up and retconning the Golden Age comics. You are trying to make Captain America “gritty and realistic”. A pint-sized, three-apples-tall tiny tot running around with a gun and fighting Nazis during the most brutal and devastating war the world has ever seen, is too unrealistic for you. But if DC fans can just roll with the fact that Dick Grayson was 8 years old when he became Robin then I think us Marvel fans can cope with Bucky being 13 when he first became... well, Bucky.

So, lo and behold, Captain America as re-written by moi:

• Bucky is born in 1928

• He is 7 when his mom dies in 1935, and 9 when his dad dies in 1937.

• In 1940 he is sent to the UK to train with the SAS, he is 12 by this point (don’t look at me like that idk, comic book logic or smth, maybe he was really feisty and a good fighter)

• He is 13 when he in 1941 comes back to the US and is made Captain America’s partner.

• In 1945 he is 17 when falls off that damn plane and is captured by the Soviets (see, now that I’ve made him a teenager the tragedy hits harder. Now he is just like Jason Todd, gone too soon and all that. Also him being a child during the entire duration of the war is more interesting)

• Steve is born in 1920 and he is about 20/21 when he becomes Captain America. A 20 year old CA is more believeable imo 🙂‍↕️

• He is 25 when he goes into the ice. See, this way he is still young when tragedy strikes but mature enough to lead the Avengers and do everything he does after he gets defrosted.

This way they have an 8 year age gap, and more of that Batman and Robin dynamic that I’m craving. Now it also makes more sense for them to be about the same age when Steve finds Bucky again during the Winter Soldier arc. I like the idea of them being the same age and having more of a best friends dynamic during the modern era

Last issue featuring Bucky: Thunderbolts - Doomstrike #3 (30th April)

Bucky is currently known as The Revolution and leading the Thunderbolts.

Last issue featuring Sam: Sam Wilson - Captain America #5 (7th May)

Sam is currently Captain America (along Steve) and Joaquin Torres is the Falcon.

Current main storyline: Sam Wilson - Captain America. Sam Wilson is against the Red Hulk! Started: 1rst January, 2025.

What is this blog?

This blog is meant to keep track of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes apparitions in the comics, be it as team, or a standalone storyline or even just a cameo in the background (though I will probably have trouble tracking these haha).

The pinned post will always indicate what's the most recent issues they have appeared in.
