Commission Scam Experience – Please Read
I really didn’t think I’d have to do this, but I can now say clearly that a gif commission page has scammed me, and I’d like to expose it here. They’ve deactivated their account. I doubt they’ll activate it again, but just in case they create a new one, I want to share this so no one else goes through the same thing.
I chose this account in particular because it claimed to be from Ukraine, a country currently at war, and said they used the money they earned to support different associations. Even if that last part wasn’t true, I thought it was right to help someone who might be going through a difficult time, so I sent an "Ask" by filling out the order form with my request. Below, I’m sharing the conversation we had regarding the gifs. It was pleasant and smooth at all times, which definitely made me feel at ease.

At this point, I felt a bit bad. As I mentioned at the beginning, I chose her because she was from Ukraine, and I did think that something serious might have happened to her. So I tried to be understanding.
And then she disappeared again. This time, I got angry. Because look, I can understand that things happen, especially in a country at war, but there's something called communication. And if you're not going to be able to complete an order for whatever reason, you can tell me. We can talk about it, and maybe, if you appeal to my empathy, I might even feel generous enough not to ask for a refund for a commission you’re not delivering. But none of that happened, so I wrote to her again. Let’s remember she had once more promised to deliver the order the next day, and about a week had already gone by.
You might think I was being harsh. But you know what? That same night she updated the gif page. She didn’t complete my order, but she did add several more to the pending ones. Which means she read my message but couldn’t even be bothered to reply, not a single explanation, not a reason for the delay. Nothing. Just silence and a few crumbs. What do I think about that? She did it hoping I’d settle for that and stop asking for the rest of my commission.

I believe that if she had been an honest person, she could have handled this situation in several ways. First, by talking to me. Explaining if she was going through something difficult. Delivering the work or refunding the part of the money for the work she didn’t do. I would have let it go and moved on with my life. But instead, she chose to do this:

In conclusion, I believe this person never intended to complete the work and was using a country’s ongoing war to appeal to others and make easy money by scamming people. It’s really unfortunate. There are many lovely accounts out there that offer beautiful commissions and take their work seriously, but people like this create distrust in the community. And that’s why I’m exposing her. That, and because I’m afraid she might create a new account and do it all over again.
