@toapril-official day 1 - gullible on the ceiling
this lying ass god of truth
I’ve been rereading (relistening) to tdp and i forgot how freaky commodus is?? like??
Okay so like when are we gonna talk about how brutal some of the deaths in PJO/HOO/TOA are? Because….dam. (Spoilers ahead)
How I Think the Triumvirate Would Respond to Hearing the Ides of March is a Meme On Tumblr
in the event this breaches containment from the ToA fandom to the wider world of tumblr, please note that this post was written about the fictionalized versions of emperors caligula, commodus and nero in the trials of apollo series. it is based off their personalities therein, not the people who actually existed
in no particular order;
Commodus: Pretends he thinks it's funny. In actuality, he does NOT like all those posts floating around about how funny it is when a Roman leader gets killed by the people around him, because it's a sore subject. But again, acts like he also thinks it is very funny and he's in on the joke because Commodus is very concerned about coming off a certain way, and getting upset about the Ides of March trend would NOT help him being actually, totally in control of himself and not suffering from a deep hole in his heart from Apollo's betrayal that taints every moment he spends alive.
Caligula: Pretends he's unbothered and doesn't care at all. Does in fact care very much. Much like Commodus (actually even more so), he is 100% projecting himself onto this and getting pissy. This is the man who repeatedly changes his guards because he's paranoid about the time he was killed when the people around him turned. He structures his entire life around making sure that is NEVER going to happen again, and finds out modern people think it's FUNNY? Thank the GODS this meme is about Caesar's stabbing and not Caligula's murder, or he actually would've fucking lost it.
Nero: *Actually* thinks it's funny as all hell, knows it makes the other two uncomfortable but they won't admit it, and thus really leans into it. Sure he was betrayed too, but he killed himself, which means he doesn't have the same "getting brutally murdered" issues as the other two. Make no mistake, none of these three care about or have any sympathy towards Caesar. I just don't think either Caligula or Commodus could take a joke that hits too close to home.
Apollo was once Commodus’s bottom boy
I’m Rereading The Tyrant's Tomb - I love Apollo’s character in this.
Commodus took off his gauntlets. His hands were huge and rough, callused as if he’d been punching brick walls in his spare time. It was hard to believe I had ever held those hands with affection. “Caligula, you take Zhang,” he said. “I’ll take Apollo. I don’t need my eyesight to find him. I’ll just follow my ears. He’ll be the one whimpering.” I hated that he knew me so well.
I saw this on Facebook and it made me giggle because it was about the three emperors that were in trials of Apollo
It’s insane how much toa has caused me to learn. I don’t rely on the books for accurate information on these three, but they made me so interested in Caligula, so now I know way too much about him. I don’t know as much about Nero and Commodus, I know a little more on Nero than Commodus.
Anyways the point is, a children’s book series is the reason I’m majoring in archaeology and minoring in history.
Man I'm not even a huge fan of Hazbin but I can't stop thinking about Commodus and Apollo while listening to Don't You Forget (Reprise) on repeat
I wanna make an animatic soooo bad but what is free time anymore??
"You're sure this is what modern warriors drink when they go into battle?" "Absolutely."
your honor, they're silly. they grew on me. like a rash.
