When you want to compose but don't have the tools necessary to
Filling out a chart for a 12-tone row is like playing Sudoku only with music.
//so i got into ragtime and scott joplin and i really like the two-step beat it's really amazing??? and i randomly started playing a thing on the piano and wow holy shit it turned into this
this is why i cannot compose. like an idea for a good melody almost NEVER HAPPENS and when it does it's dumb shit like this that sounds like it's from kirby's epic yarn (and will also never be as good, tomoya tomita is the greatest composer ever everyone else can go home).
and when i improvise beautiful things (yes they are beautiful wow modest mun is not modest anymore) i can't even fucking remember them because so many different chords that I CAN'T EVEN NAME. i'm a fail i don't even know chord names SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME
i've been taking piano for 10 years and i should be better than this why i don't even understand
but yeah this little ditty is kinda shitty cute? i guess. yay unoriginal title and yay crappy audio file I RECORDED THIS ON MY PHONE DON'T HURT ME
not adding lyrics and never will don't ask
"How four-part harmony ruined my life" - A biography about a composer's struggles with the direction of note stems
Currently trying to write a song that doesn't sound too much like Portico Quartet.
Fucking help me.
I honestly love composing and I know that's what I wanna do in life, but notating your work out in a program like Musescore, Sibelius, Finale, etc. has got to be the worst part of composition and makes me want to throw my computer out a window tbh
Here's my minor issue for the night
I need to have an arrangement somebody ordered done, edited, in mp3 format, pdf, and emailed out in an hour. That wasn't gonna happen anyway, but I was gonna be pretty close to being done. But, my laptop kept telling me that Finale is using up too much memory and to shut that shit down for a spell. So, now I have to wait and be even later turning this in. Meh. The client was being difficult an indecisive anyway...
