Tanya/Grantz Yandere. But who is the Yandere? Stupid question, it's Tanya. You think the fucking golden retriever has what it takes to slowly but surely plan the deaths of all other possible romantic options until you're the only one left? Bullshit, that's Tanya coded as fuck.

Okay it’s really really funny you say that because like…. I am writing a Yandere-trope Grantz/Tanya fic, but I actually put Grantz as the “Yandere” (in air quotes because it’s sort of complicated lol).

Despite that I actually think it could go either way for them, it’s just a matter of what type of Yandere they are. So for fun I’m gonna yap about how I personally think of them as yandere/obsessive lovers in general.

As a disclaimer, if we’re going with the most canon compliant timeline/versions of them/universe/whatever, then neither of them are capable of this nonsense obviously. But that’s not fun. With writing I like to think that there’s technically nothing that’s impossible for your characters to do, it’s a matter of figuring out “what would make XYZ Character act in such a way”/“how do I get them there”? And honestly that’s where I think it gets interesting.

So for Tanya, if she did have someone she loved to the point of obsession… yeah you’re 100% right. She absolutely would be a cold, calculating yandere. She wouldn’t be the stereotypical emotionally unstable type who murders someone at the drop of a hat. She’d be smart. But I also think that, for her, murder would be a last resort, I don’t think it’d be her first plan to annihilate everyone in the way of her obsession.

We see in the series constantly that she wants to be a good little law-abiding cog-in-the-machine member of society. I think she’d still stay that way mostly. And, hear me out, it probably makes her more dangerous. She wants to present as normally as possible, so she would likely try to hide her obsession. That means subtle manipulation and isolation would be her go to. Her beloved would eventually be cornered and trapped with no one else to rely on to escape. Unless there was someone really stubbornly refusing to get out of the way, or if it would serve a higher purpose, violence would not be in her playbook.

On that note, a long while ago when I was into Tanya/Lergen, I wrote parts of a Yandere Tanya fic where she killed a romantic rival not just to get them out of the way, but also because it led to Lergen getting depressed, which also made him more vulnerable and dependent on Tanya to pick up the pieces. She gets as many birds with one stone as possible.

So that leads me to the question: would she intentionally hurt her beloved?

Emotional hurt? Definitely. See the reasoning above about her manipulation. But physical hurt? Probably only if she finds a really good reason for it. She’s very logically minded. I could see her reasoning against it like, any violence directed toward her beloved could probably drive them away. Why would she risk that? It would go against her goals.

So would she kill her beloved? That’s harder, but I actually think she’s capable of it. I guess it would depend on what’s more important to her: her obsession or a stable life? And that would come down to why she loves them and/or how good her relationship is. For example, if her lover finds out what she’s done and reacts badly, or won’t settle down and be good… it’s possible she cuts her losses to prevent being reported to police or something.

So another aspect to consider. How self-aware is she? Does she realize what she’s doing is wrong? This is where I’ve stumped myself.

Tanya is incredibly smart but we see in the series that she can also be extremely dense. She’s the number one misunderstanding maker. I could see her deluding herself logically rationalizing away all of her actions until she declares her hands are clean. But I could also see her being extremely self aware but ultimately dismissive of them. A point could also be made for either side being played for like… a dark comedic effect, as all of the misunderstandings around her in canon are played.

I could see both sides of the argument, so I’m leaving the question open ended.

Now as for my dear Grantz…

If Tanya is the cold and calculating type, then obviously he’s the type driven by emotions and impulse.

You’re also right that he is very golden retriever-like, but I feel like he’s got nuance, y’know? I alluded to this briefly in my own fic, but in Arene we get to see him breakdown a bit. And in this scene we see that he is the type to crack under pressure and go through an emotional outburst.

If he was truly obsessed with someone, I think an impulsive murder or kidnapping or something is entirely possible, he’s not all sunshine.

It wouldn’t be well planned like Tanya’s would, but I feel like because he is the way he is (dogboy), he would get away with it because no one would suspect him… at least for a little bit. He’s probably much less stable than a Yandere Tanya would be. Guilt or stress would eat him alive, his behavior would change accordingly, and people would notice.

So, would Grantz hurt his beloved? No. Not intentionally, at least. Something like emotional manipulation would be out of his wheelhouse, and he’d be too distraught to cause pain to someone he loves.

Accidental hurt, though is entirely on the table. Again, impulsiveness and emotional outbursts. I could see complications arising from a poorly planned attempt to finally capture his beloved. Tied the ropes too tight and cut off circulation, or maybe not enough sedatives and his beloved got hurt resisting, etc etc. Things like that.

Would he kill his beloved? No. I think no matter what that’s off the table. Killing his beloved to silence them would never occur to him. And I think a Yandere Grantz would be mentally unwell to put it gently, but not enough so to go for the whole “if we can’t be together in life, then we’ll be together in death” reasoning and kill his lover.

And lastly, does he realize what he’s doing is wrong? For him I actually have an answer for this one. I’m sure he knows that he’s not a good person for whatever crimes of passion he commits, but I think he’s incapable of admitting that to himself. He’s either delusional enough to believe his actions are for the greater good and excuse them, or just completely unwilling to face reality altogether.

I dont support the concept of mixed origin systems because no matter what, your system formed from trauma

do alters have to all split directly because of trauma? no, the brain will split alters when needed and sometimes you arent going through a currently traumatic thing when theyre needed. but that doesnt change the fact that systemhood is traumagenic and you wouldnt have alters to begin with without the repetitive childhood trauma

alters can split for any reason, from mild stress all the way to full blown panic attacks. whatever your brain has to do to help you survive, itll do it. sometimes that means splitting a new mood booster to keep the system from spiraling into depression, sometimes that means splitting an anger holder to mitigate flash outs. but you wouldnt be splitting at all if you didnt experience some sort of trauma that caused your different aspects of self to fail to integrate before you developed fully

Happy Lunar New Year to you BPP!

After reading Jimin's msg for Armys today and with everything happening in my life I can't keep this good feelings inside anymore, I want to share a tiny bit of good news --------

I'M PREGNANT!!!

After 2 years of trying because of my PCOS. It's been a rollercoaster but after my midterm check up last week my husband and me feel at ease a bit to start telling people. I'm so excited I've told everyone even told my mom's neighbor (who I hate a tiny bit cos she is loud in everyone's business and used to insult me for how I wore my skirt to school when I was young.) It's a bit scary to raise a baby in today's world, just the budgeting I've started doing gives me small heart palpitations but I can't help feeling excited BPP!!

Sorry for rambling on another limb t but I have a question. My baby is a girl and I'm thinking of naming her Jimin. My husband doesn't think this is weird to name her after our patron saint Jimin thank God but I wonder if it's alright to name give my baby girl a man's name? If I name her Jimin do you think it will be insulting to Korean culture? I've been stressing a little about this and I don't know anyone Korean in my life. Can you give some advise?

And don't even sweat it, Jimin is a unisex name. There are probably just as many women named Jimin in Korea, as there are men. So, it's not really 'a man's' name.

Also, I can't claim to speak for a whole country but I don't think it's insulting to give your child a Korean name. Several Koreans give their kids English names, Spanish names, and names from other cultures. People name their kids after TV show characters and Bible characters. You can name your daughter whatever you like, even more so if that name has a special meaning to you.

Knowing that Jimin is your inspiration for the name you're giving your daughter is heartwarming. He's a lovely, special person and it's sweet he's made such an impact on you, that your baby will bear his name.

Wow, alright then, just straight in with it, are ya? Bit cheeky askin’ someone their age, but sure, I’ll humor ya.

Last we checked, I’m a grand old 3,340 or so—not the easiest thing to keep track of back then, mind ya, but my earliest memories go back to around 1417 BC. If you’re askin’ based on appearances, well, we usually tell folks I’m in my late 40s. Keeps things simple, ya know?
