Consecration - My Digital Grimoire Series
*these are my notes, please do not repost as your own!*
I consecrated my new witch my hat and new (to me) hat pins. I lit incense, spoke to the hat, thanking it for the service it will provide and telling it what I hoped it would bring to my practice. I started with only Super 7, Selenite, and a quartz cluster sitting around the rim but eventually added green aventurine, fluorite, sun stone, tiger eye, rose quartz, amethyst, turquoise, a stone that could be labradorite or moss agate - no one knows for certain but I makes me happy, and rusty old nails I picked up from my parents ranch last time I visited because I wanted some iron to use in a protection spell bottle I haven’t made yet.
I imbued the hat with protection, bravery, and empowerment. These are to combat my feelings of insecurity around my witchling practice. I routinely feel like an imposter and a bit silly for my attempts at advocating for myself to energies of the universe. The hat pins ( ordered from Etsy and are antique, when I got into the package they were damaged so I had to repair them with super glue) are imbued with the reminder that don’t have to be perfect to work, that being a witch is about more than an aesthetic, and that the most important tool in my practice is me.

Wicca Basics and the 3 C’s: Cleansing, Consecrating and Charging
Cleansing, Consecrating & Charging
I call them the “3 C’s”. A lot of books will tell you to do one, two or all three of them to your tools, altar, spell components, herbs, crystals, jewelry… the list goes on.
But have you ever given good thought to what each of them mean? When these terms are new to you and all the books you read are throwing them at you, things can get a little muddy. As…

Consecrating Thy Athame
Note: This post will include a couple of ways to consecrate your athame. They are not my own work and the links to these articles will be included in this listing. Their words are on here in case the original source is deleted.
Exhausted Witchcraft- Cleansing/Consecrating
Step 1. Get:
a bowl of fresh water
a bowl of salt water (with blessing herb)
a container of salt
your oil of choice,
and put it all on a table.
Step 2. Sit your ass down. Hold your hands over each thing above, and pour your magic into it (with intent changing, of course, depending on the thing you're charging).
Step 3. Dip the item to be cleansed in the first bowl of water, and say, "Be cleansed".
Sprinkle salt over it and say, "Be purified".
Dip it into the second bowl and say, "Be blessed".
Then touch it with the oil and say, "Be consecrated to *insert self, deity, etc*"
(Be sure to apply the proper power and feeling to each part.)
I'm sure this seems like a pretty basic idea to some of you. But do you know how long it took me to realize that, with a little preparation, I could do my magic sitting down?
