An Overview of Why The Left Opposes American Liberalism
American liberalism is not an ideology of liberation but a managerial tool to contain dissent, preserve capitalist hegemony, and moralize inaction. Its primary function is to simulate progress while actively sabotaging movements that threaten entrenched power.
American liberalism thrives on performative morality while serving the same corporate and imperial interests as conservatism:
Domestic policing: Liberals expand police budgets ("community policing"), pass draconian anti-protest laws (Pelosi condemning CHAZ/CHOP and the Biden Admin's reaction to college encampments), and criminalize poverty (homeless sweeps in "progressive" cities like San Francisco).
Imperial violence: Biden funds genocide in Gaza, Trump deports migrants, Obama drones weddings in Yemen — the bipartisan consensus on empire remains intact.
Co-optation: Liberal NGOs (ACLU, Planned Parenthood) partner with corporations like Amazon and Google, laundering their reputations while grassroots movements are starved of resources.
In fact, the NGO-ization of resistance may be Liberalism’s most insidious tool, which:
Professionalizes dissent: Turns activists into salaried employees who must avoid radical demands to keep funding (e.g., mainstream environmental groups taking oil money).
Fragments struggles: Reduces systemic issues (racism, climate collapse) to isolated, winnable "campaigns" (e.g., banning plastic straws instead of Exxon).
Gatekeeps resources: Foundations (Ford, Rockefeller) fund only "respectable" groups that won’t threaten capital (e.g., Black Lives Matter Global Network’s corporate partnerships).
And lastly, Liberalism functions as a safety-net for the capitalist system in ways such as:
FDR’s New Deal: Saved capitalism during the Great Depression by conceding minimal worker protections while excluding Black and Indigenous people.
Clinton’s "Welfare Reform": Destroyed social safety nets, expanded mass incarceration, and deregulated Wall Street.
Obama’s Austerity: Bailed out banks, deported 3M migrants, and dropped 26,171 bombs in 2016 alone.
Like Martin Luther King Jr. so relevantly warned:
"The white liberal is more devoted to 'order' than justice, preferring a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice."
oh awesome the democrats blinked and made the last two months useless, pointless, and painful for americans.
The new ContraPoints video is conspiracy theories, not a debunking video, but an analysis of the history of conspiratorial thinking since the Roman Empire.
The truth.
Don't do voter suppression, even by accident.
If you decide you don’t want to vote, that’s your decision, I think to obey in advance, but whatever the case, it’s your business if you decide to reject whatever civic engagement for yourself. But if you’re out there messaging to other people that they shouldn’t bother voting, or parroting that kind of messaging out on social media, or in forums, or in group chats, or one on one to your friends or family, then you’re doing voter suppression. Do you really want to be the bad guy telling someone they shouldn’t attempt to exercise their rights?
There’s a pivotal PA Supreme Court retention election here in Pennsylvania and so I’m also receiving ridiculous amounts of pamphlets in the mail trying to trick me in various ways into thinking I should vote against retaining the PA Supreme Court judges or maybe not vote at all. I’m starting to see a LOT of “don’t bother voting” propaganda on social media from left-coded accounts, as the election approaches. It’s one thing to propagandize about why other people should vote one way or another, but trying weirdly to shame people to try to make them feel foolish to try, or stupid to hope, in order to deceive them into not exercising the rights they have — that’s bad guy shit. Nobody decent should be talking down to anyone else like that.
Beware Controlled Opposition and Strategize Effective Boycotts
@a-captions-blog
We discuss the dangers of 'controlled opposition' - individuals or groups who appear to oppose an entity but are actually influenced or co-opted by that entity. We warn against announcing boycotts with deadlines, as this gives the target time to prepare and retaliate. Instead, we advocate for open-ended boycotts that demonstrate strength and leverage. We also call for the creation of an anonymous network of healthcare providers, drivers, distributors, and others to support reproductive rights initiatives.
