Thedas has been around a long time, and so has its people, elves and dwarves being the longest, then humans and then Qunari. Even after over 6000 years of elven civilization and another 2000 between Tevinter, the first age of the Chantry, and the current time of Thedas, they still don’t have proper plumbing.
