They hate me for my huge chicken breasts
August 30: Today I’m posting another public service announcement here to let all my followers see and hope they will be more understanding when going to restaurants: As you guys know I’m a cook in a restaurant as my day job. One of the most annoying things I can’t stand is people claiming to have allergies or not wanting certain ingredients in their meals. The best example is claiming to have an onion and garlic allergy when they are clearly on a date. Firstly, don’t claim to have an allergy to one of the most common ingredients in all cuisines. Lots of recipes, especially stocks, start with onions and garlic as one of the first steps, so it will be almost impossible to make taste half palatable without them. Secondly, if you truly are allergic to onions and garlic, pls don’t go out to eat at all. As mentioned before, almost all cuisine globally use onions and garlic in some way and form. And there is going to be a high chance of cross contamination of these ingredients. Even if we can accommodate you, realize that we are basically making your meal from scratch so it will take some time. Thirdly and most importantly, you are creating a general feeling of “nonchalantness” in the kitchens. This is dangerous because when someone does have an actual allergy, we sometimes might dismiss it as another “fake allergy”. Solution: say what you actually mean: so if you don’t want “raw” onions as you are on a date. Say it as such. If you are on a gluten free diet, say no major gluten products (as restaurants will use store bought products that have hidden wheat products in them) Yes, we will judge you but it won’t be as frustrating to us and both of us will have a good time. Thank you. To put some reference to the pic, I made a paella at work yesterday and it reminded of another time I made it and customer asked for no onions and saffron... . #publicserviceanouncement #publicservice #foodservice #cook #cookproblems #beagoodperson #beagoodhuman #instahealth #health #healthtips #instafitness #fitfam #fitness #fitnesstips #motivation #dailymotivation #fitnessmotivation #healthychef #healthyfoodporn #healthyeats #toronto #smallbusiness #prepmeal #mealprep #prepmealcompany (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnGoHE3gS2G/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=7jutx2w38qiv
