darby kane, keith kane, lyra, and cooper are what lorelai hobbes, kane darby, and cassie could've been in another universe
Dude I just thought about grayson carving his name on the kane tree. I imagine him climbing the tree with lyra and looking for her spot to put his name right next to her. Also, what if Cooper also adds his name at the same time, what if grayson helps him to carve it, that is so cute. I am dying of cuteness.
Edit: Can some incredible writer from this lovely fandom please write it pleaseee???
grayson from cooper's perspective
cooper is my spirit animal
I just finished the book, and I feel like I have to read it again because there is a lot of subtext that I didn't analyse properly.
For one, lyra's mom in tgg tells lyra "we both know that anything can be a weapon if you believe in your heart that you can maim or kill someone with it." Then in tgb when lyra calls her, she says "toothpick, ice cube and bikini bottoms", to what she answers "things that can be used as weapons."
At first I just thought it was planned to be just a joke or a detail to show their dynamics, but the more I analyse it, the more I realize that lyra's mom most likely taught her that because she needed lyra to know she can protect herself at anytime.
Lyra was kidnapped, that obviously affects not only her, but her parents too. No good parent is not going to be affected by such events, they live with the constant fear of something happening to their child again, and I feel that was the case with the kanes.
Her parents were scared that something could happen to her again, so I think that is why they taught her anything can be a weapon, that is why she can sort of swordfight, maybe even why she is so athletic, so if she were ever in a dangerous situation again, she would know how to defend herself and they wouldn't lose her again.
The Kanes had such a great dynamic, and we barely even saw them. Forever mourning them.
