The only unused idea left from my latest animation was the chess wizard scene, so I turned it into the first two pages of this piece. The rest was just me messing around with different brushes and kinda getting fascinated in doing an anatomical half-head study.

A/N: Thank you anon for such a cute request! This was actually kind of a challenge 'cause Mac's so stoic and kinda prickly all of the time. It was interesting trying to navigate being emotionally constipated AND caring for someone. Hope you enjoy!

A headcanon for every character from The Thing!

Mac's favourite colour is purple, but he would never admit that.

Childs is unbeatable at Monopoly. Like scary good. Like he doesn't even care, makes random decisions and always wins.

Nauls hates maple syrup. He finds it too sweet and the fact it gets sticky and makes everything you touch after it sticky as well. Hideous textures.

Windows (🪟🪟🪟) is a cat person and is a wee bit scared of the dogs and Clark.

Need to win a pub quiz? Palmer is your guy. He watches almost nothing but game shows and is consequently good at every trivia category apart from sports.

Norris is your guy for sports trivia. Together, him and Palmer would never lose a quiz.

Bennings listens to the loudest, most incomprehensible metal music you have ever heard while he works.

Clark feels strongly about positive reinforcement training for dogs. And hates mushrooms because texture. (He gets two because I need to project)

Fuchs gets into frequent - fairly light-hearted - arguments with Palmer about his conspiracy theories. Some of them Palmer actually believes, some he's just trying to be annoying.

Blair is very good at arcade games.

Garry regrets every day bringing Windows and Palmer into close quarters for a long period. Given the choice, he would get rid of Windows and get a better radio operator.

Copper complains about Palmer but kind of admires his disregard for the opinions of others.

“Testing, testing, 123— Oh it’s recording now, hold on…” *shuffling in background*

“Hello, this is Windows, Radio Operator stationed at U.S. Outpost 31. We have been told that, this is a new type of communication that allows us to talk with people easily, and—” *Windows is cut off as a door opens in the background.*

“What is it?” “Is it up and running?” “Yes, yes it is Garry, now let me do my shit so I can get this over with.” *after a moment of silence, the door closes again.*

“Anyways, that’s basically about it. If anyone has any questions or want to reach us, you know where to go.” *Windows sighs, there is more shuffling before the radio clicks off.*

Implying ships between the characters are fine, just don’t expect them to react flustered about it! (They would probably be angry)

Silly and whimsical asks are fine and encouraged! (You wanna turn Blair into a cat just because? Great!)

You CAN ask for specific people! Just ask something like: “Question for Fuchs, blah blah blah…” and Fuchs will answer!

If you want to roleplay, just send in the asks: Who your character/OC is, who you want to roleplay with (maximum of three characters), the setting, and the mood of it!

i.e. “My character is [blah blah blah], I would like to RP with MacReady and Windows, the setting is in the radio room, and it is in a tense mood.”
