The development and journey Lord Wyldon takes throughout Kel's page training (and beyond) is arguably my favorite character arc within any book I have read. There are so many moments between the two of them once he begins to come around --and after he has fully realized how special not only she is, but female warriors in general are-- that bring the prick of tears to my eyes on every single read.

Horus and Isis just... leaving and Carter and Sadie getting no closure is just so ughhhh I have to SCREAM.

Okay, so I just reread the Kane Chronicles, and sure it has a ton of issues (like thirteen year old Sadie dating an eons old lord not being romantic to me when I'm now a lot older than her and the religion issues I have zero knowledge about) but you know one of the best parts? The way Sadie and Carter and their godly possessors go from completely dysfunctional to actual proper relationships.

Like, Sadie thinking Isis is like a mother?? Carter and Horus' banter getting less and less hostile and more friendly/flirting?? I'm here for it.

But I so totally empathize with Carter - Horus just left him like that?? The last we ever hear of him is ripping off Carter's speech. I am so. angry.

I want them to acknowledge their friendship!! The snarky banter, the I trust you and will go along with what you say, I will defend you, I know both your good traits and your bad but I will merge with you anyway, and I am literally so dependent on you I didn't feel like I was getting out of your shadow until I had to become king and give a speech!!

That ending was just... so awful. It was like the 'oh the gods fulfilled their promise to Percy for like, three months' blow, except a hundred times more painful because Horus and Isis actually returned the favours, and guided and liked the kids.

I want a goodbye!! A better ending to their work together!

(And no this is definitely not because I am now somehow converted to a Corus shipper).
