Just an update for upcoming projects! My next con goal is for Rose City Comic Con, but we’ll see how things work out with my schedule. Otherwise, it’s ECCC again next year ;) (My new favorite convention, hands down.)
1)Cersei Lannister: I originally had planned on bringing her to ECCC this year, but things got postponed. I have everything mocked up and patterned, so I really just need to order the fabric and get started.
2)Sesshomaru: A costume a long time coming. I kind of phased out of anime/manga after college, but I’ve recently been watching a few shows and have slowly been getting back into things. I mentioned this to a friend of mine, and the subject of our first anime came about, the idea took hold...and now we have an Inuyasha cosplay group planned, haha. He was my favorite character when I was around 13-14. Plus, this costume entails some really fun elements--faux fur, armor, and lots of silk painting and applique :D
3)Princess Aurora: This costume also was originally slated to appear at ECCC this year, but I ran out of time and refused to con crunch and rush things that I’d regret later. Postponing her was a great decision, because now I can actually take my time with detail work. I’m also remaking the bodice and I’m soooo much happier with the shape and design, as opposed to “it’ll work” with the last one I made.
----------------------------------------
Other than that, it’s just cleanup for the two costumes that debuted at ECCC:
1)Cinderella: she’s pretty much good to go for another con. I’d like to add some gathered tulle netting under the swags for a bit more shape, but that’s about it.
2)Ariel: this mermaid needs quite a few tweaks before wearing again.
-For the bodice: I need to add a modesty panel, fix the swags (they droop a bit too much, but it should be an easy fix) and remake the lower sleeves (the last ones were kind of slap dash with materials I could scrounge from my stash since I underestimated how much fabric I had intended to use and didn’t have enough time to order more...ugghh.)
-For the skirt: I honestly did something super dumb and measured my natural waist instead of my waist with the corseted bodice...which takes 2 inches off. Because of this, the skirt sat a bit too low and dragged. At least it’ll be easy to clean...but uggggghhhhhh...... So I need to take the waist in, and then I’ll be adding all of the pearl cabochons and rhinestones (~8,000-10,000 or so) to the bottom ruffle that I ran out of time to do originally.
