Odette progress! The zipper is only basted in for now, but there's a strange sense of completion just getting the closure in something and making it wearable. I went through having to remake the lining and redo the boning in the new one since somehow the first one apparently shrank up while I was steaming it (it was scrap fabric from another project, so I thought it'd already been washed), and a first version of the neck trim that was gathered in the front instead of angled together, but it's finally almost wearable! The sleeve linings are already cut out, and will get casings for elastic before they're sewn up and all the pretty, flowy outer layers attached! Got the boning in the lining and straps to test the fit. I think the top edge works, but I'll do one more fitting before I start cutting the interlining and outer fabric. Not too bad for an evening's work. Got this assembled from a layer of duck cloth and a layer of felt that's old enough to drive for structure, and it'll have one more layer of cotton lining inside that gets sewn down to hold magnets eventually. It closes with Velcro on the right, and once I get/find my separating zipper that's going in also. Now to toss it on my dress form to pattern out the shoulders so I can hem the arms and take in the slight flaring there, and decide on an integrated or separate neck seal. Also, thanks, past me, for keeping these boots I never wear, so now I have boots to cannibalize and mount armor on! After a series of projects with giant pieces and multiple pattern sheets, it's kinda a relief to have something with two looks on one sheet, and small enough that one cat can cover most of them. I've never tried corsetry before, but after everything I've done so far for Dolores, I'm about 90% sure I'll be fine.
