Similarities: Both Katheryn(yes that was how the historical Katheryn spelt her name in her only surviving signature*) and Hürrem are wearing red gowns, though in Hürrem's case, she's wearing a sable(probably the one gifted by Suleiman in honor of Mehmed's birth) cape over her gown while Katheryn is wearing a red coat trimmed with black fur(based on my research could be made out of ermine, sable or lynx per the sumptuary laws of the time) over her gown.

Do you think Suleiman should have upgraded his gift to Hürrem in honor of Mehmed's birth to something resembling Katheryn's coat?

Yes, our girl just gave birth to a Sehzade, a pretty coat would be a great gift
