the idea that phil was going to invite dan to spend the night <- premeditated

dan thinking he was going to have to spend the night in the hole <- 100% real

I think one of my favorite things about Marriagetoxin is how suprisingly solid the worldbuilding is, and how much that affects how I care about the characters. I feel like a silly romcom harem action show doesn't need to build up it's background as much and could just work off a crazy, more loosely-connected cast. But, establishing the 5 Great Families and all of their spin-offs and branches and the power dynamics between them (with an example being something like Gero and Toshiki's friendship) makes the relationships between characters so much more compelling than if that extra lore wasn’t present.

Hey hey, gang! You know what time it is. BRANZY THEORY TIME. Like I said before, I feel like he's a great allegory for addiction AT LEAST. But let's talk about Branzys... uh, goals.

Also keep in mind that everything I'll say here is MY OPINION and NOT FACT.

Branzy will do anything for the bit, and I mean anything. This man will throw himself off the cliff or run another under the bus if it's funny. But at the same time, he's deluded himself into thinking it's all for good fun (IMO)? He's stated multiple times that he does what he does to make others happy... (Echocraft). However, it's also hinted that he KNOWS not everyone enjoys it... (Lifesteal World). So why? Why does he keep humiliating himself and others? What is he gaining from this?

(YES Branzy is manipulative and tricky, so I forgot to mention to take what he claims with a grain of salt... he's not a "hero" for a reason. Even I forgot- and I'm unintentionally studying the guy! But from what we can see through actions Branzy [character, YouTuber isn't involved in this theory] might not inherently want to hurt people? At least at first.)

(Honestly, Branzy in general is so complicated it's hard to ever know what he's thinking... he could mean well, just as much as he means wrong. It really depends on the situation and day. But I'll get into that at some point...)

To put it simply: the thrill.

Branzy is addicted to the thrill of things. He attaches himself to danger like a moth to the flame. It's not healthy, but it's hard to get away. And I'd argue he IS the thrill for others. People sure do keep coming back despite all he's done. He's addicted just as much as he is the addiction, I suppose.

While what he does is fun for the most part, and he does have minuscule morals, Branzy is still dragging others down with him (likely intentionally). Of course, he is also surrounded by other adrenaline junkies, but I feel like it's more dangerous for Branzy, given his skill level and overall excitement about death. If he were a little bit worse, he'd prob be on Spong's level.

This addiction to the thrill and, to a degree, the need for control (by acting weak in front of others, gaining protection) makes Branzy obsessed. It's like a drug, y'know? You feel like you NEED it when, in reality, it's best to avoid. To him, it's working, right? why stop.

IDK if I explained this well.

TLDR: Branzy is addicted to the thrill and the reactions it can bring. He's someone who finds comfort in being weak- he's someone who lures himself to danger- he's someone who many, and I mean MANY, can't understand. He's such an orthodox!
