CJ/Mallory for the crackship game

Oh, this could fuck severely.

Imagine CJ taking Sam's place as Mallory's potential love interest? Sam is still there, of course, but as an observer (who might flirt with Mallory but it's mostly to light a fire under CJ's ass that the woman has other options and CJ might want to stop dragging her feet?) Get rid of the Laurie subplot (or keep it if you want...) and get rid of CJ not knowing who Mal was, at first--she had to have known her during the campaign. They hung out, were friends. But then she shows up with her class for the tour and there's a spark there, one that CJ is content to ignore, at first, but then...wait, is Mallory McGarry O'Brien flirting with her?

And maybe CJ had to write a position paper (or the non-law school equivalent) of school vouchers that someone digs up and Mallory hears about it? Or a quote surfaces from the campaign that is damning out of context? And they bicker about that because Mallory is a teacher, how can CJ argue for vouchers??

Leo obviously has less influence over CJ's schedule than he does Sam's, but that doesn't mean he's not going to try to razz her about the fact that she might be going out with his daughter using his Kennedy center tickets that used to be his and Jenny's. And part of it is because he's so very protective of his daughter but he's also protective of CJ and he knows how subtle they have to be about this and this is one of the first times Mal has shown real interest in a woman and so he wants CJ to have to fight a little for it, he wants to make sure CJ is serious and not just flirting to flirt. He wants to know that CJ means it, because if this goes anywhere, it's going to be tough for all of them but for no one more than CJ and Mallory.

And maybe they do make it to the opera or maybe they go have bad coffee somewhere, maybe Leo does take them for dessert and he goes home and they close the place down talking. Maybe they share a cab home and CJ walks her to the door and it's so late and dark out she feels safe with kissing her at the door, so soft and tentative.

And then? Secret dating perhaps? Mallory finding every excuse to come by the White House? And then someone snaps a picture or a God forbid, a parent at Mallory's school sees, and suddenly they're being bombarded by angry PTA parents who don't want a gay woman teaching their kids and CJ is getting hounded by the press and oh, I've made it sad, but this could be so good actually??

How it happened:

Selene and Oliver always were fast friends and team mates on the Gryffindor team

Oli was a little dismayed when Selene and Eliot started spending their time together, because of how convinced he was that book-loving, stern Eliot was a bad match for a lively spirit like Selene. At least that's what he told himself

After Alan had met his demise (RIP) and Selene was banned from visiting both the Highlands and Ethel for the summer, she begged Eliot to visit her in Edinburgh to make her feel less miserable. He declined.

Oli found Selene furiously weeping beside the Black Lake and sat to listen to her woes. Hearing her cry bitter tears about his brother was awkward at first, but his sentiments soon changed to anger and outrage at how hurt Selene was by Eliot's refusal.

He suggested a walk to calm her nerves, which turned into another, and another, and another, and letters exchanged during the summer break, and a strangely nervous feeling as the September approached and he would see Selly again at school.

Repeatedly meeting Selene for rendezvous in the library after curfew to read romantic and adventure stories to each other (your educated guess on who chose what) led to a bad conscience towards Eliot at first, but only until Selene kissed Oliver for the first time in a passionate reading of her favourite poem.

After school, Selene went to conquer the world and live out all the adventures she could only dream of as a child. Her stories found their home in Oliver's writing and publishing house, and Oli found his muse in the moody hills surrounding Fraser Hall.

Okay! Obi-Wan/Draven. I agree, there is a lot of potential for the Clone Wars era, but a horrible Rebellion Era AU grabbed a hold of me, so that’s what I’m inflicting on you instead.

So, AU where Obi-Wan joins the Rebellion (maybe this is a universe where Padmé lives and takes the kids and runs so that's not on Obi-Wan's plate anymore). Obviously the fact that he's a Jedi needs to be kept on the down-low. If people knew THE Obi-Wan Kenobi had survived, the nascent Rebellion would very soon have had way more attention than they could bear. 

Still, there are ISB officers that are certain the Rebellion has the firepower of at least one former Jedi, and one of them is Davits Draven. 

See, Draven was Republic Intel, and when the Republic became the Empire, he became Imperial Intel automatically. He never fought with the Jedi during the clone wars, and at first, when the purge happens he's relieved. He never liked the idea that there were people set up as shining heroes. He's not sure if he believes the hype, but he half-hopes it was all a lie. The idea that there are people who can just crawl into your mind and change it— 

Well, it's what he tries to do for a living, so he knows exactly how monstrous it is. 

So when there's a strange pattern of behavior among the troops that encounter the Rebellion, memory loss, behavior change, one notable case where a weapons dealer gave up the industry and became a philanthropist with no good explanation for where his stock went— 

Draven has a theory. 

He later knows, and maybe even knew at the time, that if he had written it up and filed his report, a squad of inquisitors would have been dispatched, and that would have been the end of it. But Draven doesn’t want to write that report. He justifies it to himself; he’s never liked making a bad call, and it's such an outlandish theory. So he takes the field himself. 

He winds up captured by Obi-Wan.

It's terrifying. The man looks so...civilized, with his neat beard and short hair and casual jacket and trousers. He's got the accent that half the upper brass has, and the manners of a moff. He's the scariest fucking person Draven has ever seen. And then Obi-Wan looks at him and says, "You're thinking of defecting." 

Damn it all. 

Draven has begun to see how terrifying the Empire is, and has started to realize in a quiet, desperate sort of way just how impossible stopping it is going to be. It's never going to be accomplished by a band of idealists with more morals than sense.

Maybe, he thinks, the Rebellion is the one that needs the monsters. Like the man across from him. Like Draven himself. 

"I am defecting," Draven corrects him coolly. 

"Indeed," says Obi-Wan with a smile that was maybe supposed to be amused, but reminded Draven of nothing so much as a predator showing his fangs. "Well, let's get you out of here, then." 

And then actually getting them together is like a an 80k slowburn fic about knowing the wretched parts of yourself and how you deal with someone else knowing them too. It's also about how you leash them—with rules, with the Jedi code, with bureaucracy, and what to do when those leashes fray and fail. 

There's probably some hot Force-infused hatesex. Someone gets captured, someone else saves them, there's some hurt/comfort, there's eventually, a genuine positive emotion stated out loud.

well, we all know Light and Higuchi would’ve met in the Yotsuba arc. hypothetically, Light would’ve been sent in undercover and him and Higuchi begin a relationship after a while, and it’s just loathing all around

Light gets the notebook back and he feels Literally No Remorse as he kills his boyfriend of the past (amount of time the Yotsuba arc goes on)

here we have two smart women in high profile positions—CJ as press Secretary, Angela as Leo’s former deputy at Labor and now working in her high profile job when she gets called back by Leo during the kidnapping. We have two women that know what it’s like to be a woman in politics, and what it’s like to work for Leo McGarry. We also have two women who love Charlie young, so there’s that thread they have in common, and I love the idea of CJ dating someone who has known Charlie much of his life, I think it’s adorable. I think CJ and Angela would be super compatible, as well!

Non-canon crack-ship: Hal Wyler/Audrey Hall

Now THAT'S what I call a crackship! I love it!

Honestly my first instinct was no, but then when I thought about it...I do think it could work! Hal Wyler is ambitious and scheming and smart, but he also thrives when he has someone (Kate, or Audrey in this case) going toe to toe with him on things. He wants someone he can debate with, someone who's going to call him out on his shit. Audrey has shown, particularly in season 6, that she's not afraid of doing just that.

So picture...maybe a modern day Audrey Hall. Maybe she's the housekeeper of the ambassador's house, witnessing a marriage crumbling from within. She'd never do anything while he's married, of course. As far as he knows, she's married too. She's Mrs. Hall, after all. And maybe when he get selected for VP, she goes to say goodbye and he lets out that they're divorcing, only it's a secret, and she gives him a piece of her mind about that, but they're standing much closer than is proper...

Or, 1930s/40s Hal? In England for reasons related to the war, maybe he's married with a wife overseas but maybe he's not, and he stumbles across Audrey when she'd going her Warden duties. This unassuming woman gets in his face when he defies her orders, and he's grinning like a fool? Can't you just hear her indignant "Mr. Wyler!"

I'm not saying it would be easy. Maybe he would prove to be too conniving for her, or her not feisty enough for him. But it could work. Maybe.
