Of all his hobbies, Nathan’s love of cooking is one of my favorites. Every Saturday he lets me tag along to the dorm kitchen while he experiments. This weekend he seems to have a hankering for soup.
“What is it, exactly?” I ask, but take a sip from the proffered spoon before he answers.
“Chicken noodle,” he replies, “Think you might be getting sick. Nip that in the bud.”
I can’t hold back my smile. I never can, with him. He looks sheepish, which only invites more of my fondness.
Somehow, even in his absence, his plant in the windowsill has grown obnoxiously large.
Sometimes I think I hate him more when he’s gone than when he’s here. Whenever he’s gone I have nothing to do but sit and overthink it all. I find new reasons to be mad, pinpoint new details of his behavior and personality that I loathe. I come up with new things to say to him when he comes home, even though I know I won’t say any of them.
He isn’t even here. But somehow, without anything to feed it, my anger has only grown.
I don’t know why he does it. I don’t think he does it on purpose. I don’t even think he notices. But I notice.
Whenever we get out of bed in the morning, or run into each other on campus, or return home in the evening. No matter where we are, no matter how long it’s been. He’ll greet me kindly, he’ll smile sincerely, and he’ll grab my shoulder. And then, once he’s already shifted his gaze, as he begins to turn away, his hand will trail down my arm mindlessly, brushing against my fingertips before he fully breaks away.
The phone rings and I know it’s Alex. I set a specific tone for him a while ago so that I’d always know to answer. So that I could be there for him like he was there for me.
I can hear his voice without even picking up the phone. “Hey man,” he’s always said, “What’s up? How’re ya doing?” And I’d tell him. Without hesitation. I’d pick up that phone right away and pour my heart into it, as long as he was on the other side.
Eventually the phone stops, but his voice still rings in my mind.
Here we go with Arch, and I have another already done for tomorrow! If this keeps up I might just make more and post multiple a day :) Day 9
“Huh, I like that idea. From now on you can call me Arch!”
Arch is a person who comes from a line of Nature themed Creators, so it was natural when she was always outside digging in the dirt, but when introduced to gardening and such, she refused to partake! But one day Arch discovered an old toy in her backyard and when her parents saw her amazement and wonder, they knew what to do. After some talking and discussion, Arch decided, that she would stray from the family line, and become a famous archaeologist! She grew up and now travels the world with her handy satchel and searches for lost pieces of the past and looks forward to an exciting future!
Arch is a Scroll Type A class being, so she prepares her powers ahead of time with focus and precise drawings. Type A beings do create their own drawings and rely heavily on imagination, so Arch, being an Ancient theme, tends to create ancient perceptions of what creatures looked like, and her powers usually seem way more powerful than they actually are. This is good in that she can scare of weaker beings and intimidate more powerful beings, however, this can sometimes catch the attention of some dangerous folks.
welp, Its a matter of filling in the blanks at this point. Any post of the NOCADC will contain ideas I never fully fleshed out, and create the remaining OC’s.
So here is Rhonda, the one for the supposed to be last day. Day 31
Rhonda lives in an alternate universe, where beings use the magic of Creation. With their Creation Pens, these people can create works of art or bring to life their imagination, for battle, showing off, or anything really! She is an Improvisational class being, meaning she can create anything as long as she can imagine it. Of course, her theme is Aqua, so her improvised creations tend to be aquatic in nature, but its not so hard to stretch the boundaries and create something like a dragon, but blasts water.
Being Improvisational, she loves to doodle randomly and will create little companions almost constantly. She hates to run out of power and her worst nightmare is the inability to create anything. She tends to stay calm in tough situations, but takes on an aggressive stance in battle. She travels solo, mostly sticking to areas with water so she always has an advantage over challenging foes. But she has considered the idea of teaming up.
