Downside of being obsessed by your game OCs:
To create their story you need to complete the game (or at least part of it). But for that you need IRL time. And sometimes the games are lengthy by themselves /special side-eye at BG3 and Elden Ring/
And you even may enjoy the process. And you may even be so skilled that you quickly do a lot of things. But your goal here is not a speed-run but immersing yourself into the story (or trying at the very least). For BG3/DragonAge/Pillars of Eternity, for example, it’s the obvious roleplay, but for Elden Ring/DS-series I personally also consider character’s fight style*, preferred abilities (that may NOT correlate with MY preferred strategies; it’s interesting to fighting in new way BUT-) and the order of visited locations.
* well, for other games as well, but soulslikes are more flexible and more variative in my personal experience; in BG3 you may be restricted to some weapons such as only simple weapons (daggers and shortswords for example), in DS/ER you can wield ANYTHING only depending whether you are strong or dextrous enough
And when you are struck by the period of tiredness, demotivation to do anything and isolation…. /sigh/
I dunno, i’d be happy to headcanon a lot of things for my game OCs and write down in drafts but i stumble upon the “canon” events (cause i wonder and need to know the exact events that my chars went through cause it may differ from my expactations) for which i dont have resources rn….
One day, guys, one day…………
PS. Same goes to any “media”/literature OCs, honestly, but i mostly have game, dnd OCs or from my personal setting, so i vent rn only about game ones (and well technically dnd ones go there as well-)
