They could feel everything and yet nothing at all.

They felt the grass under their feet as they ran, nothing but the wind against them.

They felt the tears on their face as they ran, ran and ran, like this was the only way they could ever be free.

Then, they stopped, falling to their knees as the agony in their heart ripped out as a scream, tears, and uncontrollable shaking.

They had been forced into a shell of a person they once were because they were scared.

Scared of rejection

Scared of pain

Scared of fear

Scared of themself.

The pain of knowing who they were truly yet unable to let them out was agony.

It was like watching a butterfly that has been trapped, slowly die even though it could be freed, but the fear is too great.
