Yesterday was the 36th anniversary of the Capitol Crawl.
On March 12, 1990, to get the ADA passed, many wheelchair users and people who use other mobility aids cast aside said mobility aids and climbed up the steps of the State Capitol in Washington D.C., demonstrating the inaccessibility of the world.
The youngest person to take part was Jennifer Keelan-Chaffins. She was 8 years old at the time. As she was climbing, she, very famously yelled. (quote) "I'll take all night if I have to!" (end quote)
Video footage of the Capitol Crawl (including Jennifer) can be found in the documentary "Crip Camp" which can be found on Netflix.
