With Crowdfarming I've adopted a little avocado tree on Corsica. It's living on a family-owned farm and I named it "Vulkan".

I love avocados but I don't want them taking poor people's water resources and getting shipped around the world, producing tons of CO2 and lining the pockets of corporations.

Once a year the farmer sends me a box of Vulkan's bounty and yesterday this season's harvest has reached me.

So, my avocados may not be as big as the supermarket ones, but they are making up for their small size with gigantic taste.

The Vulkan-Avocado-tree has delivered!

My organic, local-ish avocadoes are here, still way too green to eat (Salamanders-coloured as they should be!) but I'm looking forward to eat two and a half kilos of avocadoes, until I can't stand them anymore.

I think crowdfarming is available in most of Europe now. It started in Italy, but I'm having lots of options for adopting trees and sheep and cows and goats and sweet potatoe fields here in Germany as well.

The Lord of Drakes now has his own avocado-tree somewhere in France!

I did it again. I crowdfunded vegetables, by "adopting" some tree or piece of field from organic, local (relatively, this time they are 300 km from here), non-corporate farmers.

"My" sweet potatoes are named after the Urizen. And they are the best sweet potatoes I ever had.

Since I really like avocados but am not happy that they are carted around half the world and are very ressource-heavy when mass-produced, it was time to adopt an european tree.

And avocados really look a little bit like dragon eggs with their rubbery green skin.

So I adopted and named.

And now I'm waiting for my delicious avocados.

The Lord Aurelian has indeed bestowed me with the most wonderful sweet potatoes I ever saw or ate!

I already have consumed 3 out of 8 kg and am very happy with my starchy lovelies. Golden-orange in colour, tasty and filing.

5/7 perfect vegetables. Will crowdfarm again next year.

Sunshine on a Plate: Farm-Fresh Avocado & Perfect Eggs 🥑☀️

Guten Morgen! Auch wenn die Sonne draußen vielleicht gerade mal eine kleine Pause macht – auf dem Teller können wir sie uns jederzeit selbst anknipsen. Und das gelingt am besten, wenn man ganz genau weiß, wo die Zutaten herkommen!

Für dieses Gute-Laune-Frühstück habe ich auf Produkte gesetzt, von denen ich absolut überzeugt bin. Die Avocados beziehe ich über "Crowdfarming" – das bedeutet: keine ewige Übersee-Verschiffung, sondern direkter Bezug aus Europa. Sie kommen auf den Punkt reif an und bieten wahnsinnig viel cremiges Fruchtfleisch statt nur einem riesigen Kern, wie man es leider so oft aus dem Supermarkt kennt. Und bei den Eiern gilt exakt das Gleiche: Die hole ich einen Ort weiter direkt vom Demeterhof ab. Wenn man dort sieht, wie die Hühner fröhlich über die Wiese jagen, fast wie auf einem Trampolin versuchen über den Zaun zu hüpfen, und dabei von zwei tiefentspannten Schafen in den lustigsten Posen bewacht werden – dann schmeckt das Frühstück gleich doppelt so gut!

​🍽️ Quick Guide: Mein Farm-to-Table Frühstück

​Das Geheimnis für dieses Brot liegt absolut in der Herkunft und der Qualität der Zutaten. So baut ihr es nach:

​Die Basis: Zwei Scheiben eines guten, glutenfreien Brotes, richtig schön kross getoastet.

​Das grüne Gold: Großzügig hochwertige Crowdfarming-Avocado! In feine Spalten geschnitten und fächerartig auf dem Brot drapiert.

​Die Gewürze: Eine gute Prise Salz, frisch gemahlener Pfeffer, Zwiebelgranulat, geräuchertes Paprikapulver für die warme Farbe und ein Tupfer frische krause Petersilie on top.

​Die kleinen Sonnen: Zwei perfekt wachsweich gekochte Demeter-Eier (wie das garantiert gelingt, lest ihr direkt hier drunter!). Das flüssige Eigelb ist beim Anschneiden quasi die eingefangene Morgensonne auf dem Teller.

​🥚 Mini-Exkurs: Die kleine Eierkunde

​Falls ihr euch beim Eierkochen manchmal schwer tut – hier ist meine absolut verlässliche Methode für weiche Eier, bei denen das Eiweiß trotzdem schön fest (und auf keinen Fall klibberig!) ist:

​Piksen: Das Ei an der breiteren Unterseite (wo die natürliche Luftkammer sitzt) mit einem Eierpiekser anstechen.

​Hitze: Das Wasser sprudelnd aufkochen (bei meinem Kochfeld ist das Stufe 9 von 9).

​Baden gehen: Die Eier vorsichtig mit einem Löffel in das kochende Wasser legen und die Hitze sofort reduzieren (auf Stufe 6).

​Die magische Zeit: Genau 5,5 bis 6 Minuten köcheln lassen.

​Abschrecken: Das heiße Wasser sofort abgießen und die Eier dreimal hintereinander direkt mit eiskaltem Wasser abschrecken. Danach einfach "köpfen" und genießen!

​Good morning! Even if the sun might be hiding outside today, we can always bring the sunshine straight to our plates. And that works best when you know exactly where your ingredients come from!

For this mood-boosting breakfast, I relied on ingredients I truly believe in. The avocados are sourced via "Crowdfarming"—meaning no long overseas shipping, just direct delivery from within Europe. (Note for my international readers: If Crowdfarming isn't available in your region, I highly recommend looking into local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) or farm-to-table delivery services near you to get that same incredible quality!) They arrive perfectly ripe and offer an amazing amount of creamy flesh instead of just a giant pit, like you unfortunately so often find at the supermarket. The exact same goes for the eggs: I pick them up straight from a local Demeter farm one village over. Seeing the chickens happily racing across the meadow, trying to bounce over the fence like they're on a trampoline, all while being guarded by two incredibly chilled-out sheep in the funniest poses... it honestly makes the breakfast taste twice as good!

The secret to this toast is all about the source and quality of the ingredients. Here is how to build it:

​The Base: Two slices of a hearty gluten-free bread, toasted until perfectly crispy.

​The Green Gold: Be generous with your high-quality avocado! Sliced thinly and fanned out beautifully over the toast.

​The Seasoning: A good pinch of salt, freshly ground pepper, onion granules, smoked paprika for that warm color, and a touch of fresh curly parsley on top.

​The Little Suns: Two perfectly soft-boiled local eggs (check the mini-guide below for the perfect technique!). That runny yolk is basically captured morning sunshine on a plate.

​🥚 Mini-Guide: The Art of the Perfect Egg

​If you sometimes struggle with boiling eggs, here is my foolproof method for soft-boiled eggs with fully set (never slimy!) whites:

​Pierce: Pierce the egg at the wider bottom end (where the natural air pocket is) using an egg piercer.

​Heat: Bring the water to a rolling boil (level 9 out of 9 on my stove).

​Drop in: Carefully lower the eggs into the boiling water with a spoon and immediately reduce the heat (to level 6).

​The Magic Time: Let them simmer for exactly 5.5 to 6 minutes.

​Shock: Drain the hot water immediately and shock the eggs three times in a row with ice-cold water. Then simply "behead" them and enjoy!
