Okay so, I’m sure many of you out there are wondering: How are you going to choose the next ruler of Camelot? Because I get it, leaving it as ‘the stone will choose!’ is super vague and seems pretty arbitrary, so here’s how we’re going to decide the next ruler. I’ve added this page to our navigation and you can find it here, so this information will always be available!
It will not be me. My characters will NOT be the ones to pull out the stone, 100% guarantee.
It will be partially random. There will be an IC aspect and an OOC aspect, and the better you do with each of those, the greater your chances of drawing the sword will be.
Your character does not have to succeed if you don’t want them to. If you want your character to try and fail, you just need to tell the admin. However, success is not guaranteed, and if you try to pull the sword, you must be ready to accept that your character may not succeed.
Each character may only try to draw the sword once. If you attempt early on, when your aspects are low, you’ll have lower chances to succeed, so if you want better odds, make sure that you have good odds by participating both IC and OOC.
You can also advocate for your character in our OOC Discord to improve their odds, or you can advocate for someone else! We’re going to have an open and ongoing discussion channel in the Discord dedicated to discussing who the next ruler should be, and your opinions will factor into an individual character’s odds!
So the IC aspect will be determined through participation in events. During events, characters will be tested in various ways, and will have different options for how they can react and resolve a situation. Depending on their response, they may earn a Virtue Medallion, representing something like courage, honesty, wisdom, etc. Once a character has earned three different medallions, they’ll be eligible to try and pull the sword from the stone, however, their odds of succeeding will go up if they have more, and you will have to decide whether you want to try at a lower number and risk failure, or hold off until they have more medallions and a better chance at success. Your character may only earn one medallion per event, so no one will be eligible to try pulling the sword until after our third event at the earliest.
The OOC aspect will be determined through your participation in events, on the dash, and with other characters. The more people you thread with, the more threads you complete, the more events you participate in, and the more active you are, the better your odds of succeeding at drawing the sword will be. People who reach out to others for plotting rather than waiting for others to come to them will have better chances, and people who are open and receptive to plots from other people will also have improved chances. This is because our ruler is going to need to be someone who is active and able to drive plots and events in the future.
