Fandom: Katekyo Hitman Reborn – D.Gray-man
Tsuna wasn't quite sure what to do.
The supposed “opening ceremony” had been over a few hours ago and mostly everyone had spread around. His family was off to who knew where (something about keeping Reborn from finding him?) and he was still freaking out because he had no idea how he'd gotten himself in this situation – not that he hadn't lived through weirder stuff, but at least then he knew how he'd ended up there... most of the time.
As he looked around for something to distract himself with before he went on full out panic mode, he noticed a large billboard to his right with an appropriately large sign above it that read “What do you want to do today?”. Figuring he had nothing better to do he walked up to it.
On the far right was a chart that listed the basketball court, the volleyball court, the baseball field, the football field... how big was this place?!
Trying to shake off the shock, Tsuna's gaze slid to the left, over leaflet after leaflet detailing all kinds of activities, until one caught his eye.
[How to avoid your teacher from hell!]
[Forced into an apprenticeship you never really wanted? Is your teacher a downright demon? Fear not!]
[Seminar starts at 5:30 p.m. in Room B 503]
Stunned, he moved to stand directly in front of the sheet – or tried to at least, instead bumping into someone in the process.
“Waaaah! Sorry! I'm so sorry!”
“Oh! It's alright. Really! No harm done.” a smooth, youthful voice answered.
Tsuna looked up, brown eyes meeting silver ones. The person before him seemed to be only slightly older than him, even if his snowy hair suggested otherwise (then again, Onii-san also had white hair for some reason). He rubbed the back of his neck nervously, “Sorry.”
The other boy just smiled, “I mean it. There's no need to apologize, um...”
Tsuna stared for a moment before he realized what the other was getting at with a yelp. “S-sawada Tsunayoshi! That's my n-name, sorry. You can call me Tsuna.” he introduced himself with a nervous smile.
The stranger's smile grew brighter, “I'm Allen Walker. It's nice to meet you, Tsuna.”
Tsuna blinked, “Your Japanese is really good for a foreigner. Ah! Not that it's bad that you are one, just...” And there went his mouth again, talking without permission.
Allen frowned a bit in confusion, “Foreigner?”
A blush of embarrassment spread across the brunet's cheeks, “A-ah, well, I'm not quite sure where we are, but everyone's speaking Japanese so I thought we were still in Japan...”
“Japanese...?” Allen's frown deepened a bit, “I was under the impression that we've all been speaking English.”
Tsuna stared wide eyed for a moment, “...eh?”
They stared at each other, vexed, the very same thought crossing both their minds.
Weird...
Unable to take the awkward silence any longer, Tsuna opted to change the subject, shoving the whole language ordeal to the back of his mind, “W-were you also looking at that flier?”
Allen blinked at the question but answered anyway, “Ah, yeah. I've already fled my master, but a few extra pointers wouldn't hurt. You know, just in case he decides to show his face again.” He seemed to be glaring at something far away before looking back at Tsuna with a curious expression, which he interpreted correctly.
“Hah~ You're lucky you managed to escape him. My tutor won't go away until I become a Mafia boss – which I don't want to do, for the record – and even then it's not a guarantee.”
“Are his methods also...”
Tsuna smiled wryly, “Absolute torture? Yes, definitely.”
Allen winced sympathetically, “You have my sympathy... and my condolences.”
Tsuna released a startled laugh at that and Allen's expression just grew more amused, “I never thought I'd be able to laugh about that.”
Allen chuckled in response.
A familiar, monotonous voice suddenly reached Tsuna's ears, “Bel-senpaaai~ Stop throwing knives at me.”
He froze up, taking a quick glance towards the direction the voice had come from. Sure enough, he caught sight of a tiara sitting atop messy blond hair and an apple shaped hat.
Without thinking, he gabbed Allen's hand and ran for the closest door.
Allen's eyes widened and he tried not to stumble as he was dragged around, “Wha-! Tsuna! Why the sudden hurry?!”
Tsuna almost tripped over air at the question, “Uh, to the seminar! Yeah.”
A look of bewilderment took over Allen's features, “But that's in an hour!”
“Uh...” inwardly cursing, he scrambled for a response, “We- we can explore! This place is huge! And we have time, right?”
Allen looked at him weirdly and asked him to slow down, but conceded.
Tsuna sighed in relief.
No way was he staying in the same room as the Varia.
