I love headcanoning characters as asexual or aromantic because you really can’t argue against it.

“Well this character is in a relationship” they could be alloromatic asexual

“Well this character has canonically had sex!” They could be sex favorable and do it for pleasure, for their partner, etc

“Well they’ve shown sexual attraction before!” They could be graysexual or demisexual. Ace is a spectrum after all

The same could be said for a lot of aro headcanons as well!

“The character is in a relationship” they could be grayromatic or demiromatic! Aromantics can still have relationships!

“They’ve shown the desire to be in a romantic relationship” again, aromantic people can still like romance! They could be cupiormantic or just an aromantic who likes the idea of romance, even if they themselves don’t have those feelings for a specific person.

“Well they’ve had se-“ shhhh aromantic allosexuals exist and are valid as fuck.

All I’m saying is asexual and aromatic headcanons are simply too powerful.

Book of bill spoilers

One thing I noticed that I haven’t seen anyone else point out is a connection between Bill possessing Ford and Bill specifically giving Ford physical injuries to his hands

When I got to the page of photos from Bill’s “puppet show”, this particular image stood out to me:

All the other pictures we see have some level or cartoon silliness/un-realness to them. A silly tattoo, slapping a police officers belly, eating spiders, rolling around naked in the woods, etc. all of these for the most part are very cartoon logic and meant to more make Ford look silly/stupid. Hurt his ego (minus the spider thing but that’s still a very cartoon logic thing to happen). And then we have this picture of a genuine, painful torture method.

And then I remembered another injury that really stuck out to me:

This page in general is one of my favorite pages in the whole book. I love how it shows the dark, grim side of Bill and Fords relationship. Dark, bloody, and with less restrictions due to this book being aimed at an older audience. And again, this dark page is about Ford’s hand being injured.

These moments both really stuck out to me with how real the injuries feel. No jokes. Just raw, unhinged… well, torture.

Part of me says I’m reading way too much into this (and I mean I probably am I’ll be 100% honest). But the other part of me says that Bill knows exactly how to manipulate and torment Ford. The first thing he’s going to notice when he wakes up is the pain in his hand, and he’s going to know exactly who caused it. Adding a lasting scar to the thing Ford is already self conscious about. The journal even points this out with a code saying he’ll have to hide his hands with gloves.

Was this intentional? Probably not, but the idea that Bill would purposefully injure and draw attention to the thing that makes Ford different , lead him to feeling outcast, and lead him to exploring the weirdness of gravity falls feels meaningful.

Sorry if this is super poorly written or anything. I came up with this idea right when I went to leave for work and have been writing this whole thing between 2 minutes breaks and stuff lol.

Why ace and aro activism is still needed (Cw//aphobia + one mention of transphobia which is marked so that part can be skipped)

These are all things I’ve seen said recently about ace or aro people. Many of these come from Yasmin Beniots Instagram account.

- people still believe that being aro or ace is equivalent to being a sociopath

-Still considered a medical disorder in many places

-In many places it is not legally recognized as a romantic or sexual orientation, meaning it can be harder to charge aphobia fueled hate crimes as hate crimes and conversion therapy for asexuals isn’t recognized as a form of conversion therapy

-the idea that an ace or aro person can be “fixed” by someone is still very prevalent

-ace and aro people are still called groomers (just look at some of the responses to Jaden animations coming out)

-people still believe it just straight up doesn’t exist

-religion is used to look down upon us as “our purpose in life is to get married and reproduce”

-people believe that we’re making it up because we “have no game/cant pull”

-the idea that aroallo people are predators or other things along those lines (especially towards aroallo men)

-people still believe that heteroromantic asexuals and aromantic heterosexuals are “just straight”

-people still believe that asexuality and aromantism are the same thing and erase the identities of aroallos and alloaces

-(Cw// transphobia) and one of the wildest theories I’ve seen popping up lately, which I literally can’t even put into words so I’ll just put a comment from Yasmin Benoit that an aphobe left: “After 9 years of pushing ‘affirmative care’ Stonewall needs a way of explaining young people who have no libido and cannot function sexually” or another comment which says “Frankenstein gender medicine damages or destroys sexual function. That’s why asexuality needs to be normalized 🚩”. Essentially they’re saying that transitioning ruins one’s ability to be sexual and that asexuality was an excuse made up to hide that.

People who deny the existence of aphobia are ignorant. I have had people message my mom saying she’s going to hell for supporting me. I’ve had queerphobes with speakers and microphones follow me and my friends around at pride screaming at us that we’re going to hell. I’ve had people time and time again try to erase my identity, telling me I haven’t found the right one, and other things like that. Just because the discrimination we face isn’t the same as, for example, what a lesbian may face doesn’t mean our discrimination doesn’t exist.

Words can not describe how fucking happy aroace Ford makes me as a headcanon. The amount of confidence it gives me in being aroace myself- the fact I almost cried reading a cute little comic about Mabel introducing him to the concept. It’s a Headcanon that just brings be sm joy. And then like, QPR Fiddleauthor??? Hell yeah???? I fucking love that shit
