Scrying Session October 18th, 2k19
I did an impromptu scrying session with the quartz tumbled stone (the crystal in the gif above) and wanted to document what I saw. I saw myself with my late beloved (and severely missed) cat, V (also in the above gif). I was holding him and we both looked so content and at peace. And I then felt and saw Hades the deity next to me, putting his hand on my shoulder- followed by his love, Persephone, on my other shoulder. And we all kind of just embraced and it was so fucking incredibly beautiful. Right before V passed away from the bone cancer, Hades showed me a vision while I was scrying of Him holding V, and I fucking bawled. I also was shown Cerberus licking V/the two playing together; and I did see them actually play together after V passed away. Anyways I just wanted to write this out real quick since it isn’t in my grimoire yet and I thought my chthonic crew would appreciate this UPG I had of our most beloved god of the underworld🖤

The Merlynean Scryer's Codex: The Sphere of Living Sight
0. Opening the Sphere
The crystal ball is not “a tool.” It is a portal with stage fright. It wants you to show up first. So you touch it — not like you’re petting a cat, but like you’re telling a secret into its skin. Your breath fogs the surface just barely, and suddenly: the boundary between you and the Orb becomes dreamy, glitch-soft, elastic.
This is where the Codex begins.
1. First Flash — The Eye That Opens Before You Blink
In Tarot, the reader is taught to catch the first impression.
In scrying, that impression is the heartbeat of the entire vision.
The very first flicker: a shadow, a brightness, a shape, a feeling — is not random. It is the root spell your vision will grow from.
Ask:
Does it feel warm or cold?
Heavy or featherlight?
Sharp or melted?
Fast or slow?
Does your stomach drop or rise?
Your body will tell you the truth first.
Your mind is just the narrator.
This is the First Flash Principle.
Ignore it at your peril.
2. Storyflow — Reading Time Like Pages Floating in Water
Tarot spreads read left to right.
Crystal visions read in sequence.
Every transition you see — mist → symbol → movement → dissolution — is a sentence.
And the sphere always uses the same grammar:
Beginning = the first image
Middle = the action
End = the shift or vanishing
When you think the vision “changed subjects,” it didn’t.
It just turned the page.
The Orb never speaks out of order.
Only out of comfort.
3. Archetypes — The Majors Live Here Too
Tarot Majors speak through symbols.
Scrying Majors speak through scenes.
If you see:
a crown → Emperor/Empress energy
a tower cracking → Tower Event
a sunburst → The Sun’s revelation
a swirling wheel → Fortune turning
an angelic figure → Temperance or Judgment
lovers reaching → The Lovers’ choice
The Sphere is pulling on the same archetypal software Tarot uses.
The Arcana survive the medium shift.
They just upgrade the graphics.
4. Elements — The World of the Orb Runs on Four Currents
Tarot has suits.
The crystal has currents.
Look for elemental signatures:
🔥 Fire
Sparks, flames, rapid motion, red-gold streaks
→ Passion, conflict, will
💧 Water
Mist pooling, waves, droplets, blue-silver glow
→ Emotions, intuition, healing, truth
🌬️ Air
Fog movement, wind-like distortions, feathers, white shifting light
→ Thoughts, messages, communication
🜃 Earth
Stones, roots, soil textures, gold-brown density
→ Money, stability, physical reality, timelines hardening
If a vision feels “one-element dominant,” that’s your suit-equivalent.
If two elements clash in the sphere? You just witnessed a conflict reading.
5. Color Doctrine — The Orb Speaks in Light Psychology
Everything Tarot says about color transfers seamlessly into the scrying realm, but now it’s alive.
Black / Gray
Blocks, delays, conflict, depression

Fulfillment, success, divine timing
Red
Action, danger, passion, desire
(Double-edged sword coded)
Green
Healing, growth, ancestral influence

Clarity, emotional honesty, divine communication

Color = the emotional temperature of the message.
6. Numerology of the Vision — Count What Appears
Tarot uses numbers. Scrying uses repetition.
If you see:
1 figure → new beginning
2 lights → relationship or dual path
3 animals → expansion, birth of new things
4 repeating shapes → foundation, security, or stagnation
5 anything → conflict, tests
10 sparkles, petals, etc. → completion or reward
Zero (as taught in the Tumblr notes) = a reset, an empty field ready to be seeded.
7. Symbol-Lexicon — When the Sphere Draws You a Picture
Tarot readers are trained to watch symbols. The crystal sphere is made of symbols. Whatever appears is deliberate.
Common Spherical Symbols:
Keys → access, opportunities, unlocking
Gates/Doors → thresholds, choices
Animals → instinctual messages
Waterfalls → emotional catharsis
Mountains → challenges or ascension
Feathers → ancestors or spiritual allies
Trees → growth, lineage
Stars → hope, guidance, destiny nodes
If the symbol moves, grows, fades, or breaks —
that action becomes its verb.
8. Star-Signs in the Mist — Zodiacal Scrying
Tarot ties cards to astrology. Crystal visions tie symbols to signs.
Examples:
Lion → Leo
Scales → Libra
Ram horns → Aries
Water/fish → Pisces
Goat/horns → Capricorn
Twins/faces mirrored → Gemini
Sometimes the signs show up more subtly:
Mars flares red, Venus glows soft, Saturn forms rings in the mist.
Your sphere remembers the sky even when you don’t.
9. Directional Magic — Where the Vision Points
Tarot says: pay attention to which direction characters face.
Scrying says: pay attention to flow.
If energy flows:
Right → Forward progress
Left → Past resurfacing
Up → Spiritual elevation, breakthroughs
Down → Manifestation, grounding, endings
Toward you → Present moment activation
Away from you → Fading influences, something leaving
The direction is the compass of the message.
10. Intuition — The Gut Is the Interpreter, Not the Eyes
The Tumblr teachings remind readers to trust intuition.
Scrying runs on intuition. Your body is the translator. Your nervous system is the decoder.
If something in the vision feels:
Wrong → it is a warning
Euphoric → it is aligned
Heavy → karmic
Light → transient
Intuition is the oxygen of the Orb.
11. The Last Flicker — The Orb’s Under-Card
Tarot has “the card under the deck.” Crystal scrying has “the final flash.”
The last flicker of the vision:
explains the whole message
gives the reason
shows the hidden cause
or reveals the real outcome
Never stop the reading before this moment.
It is the keyhole through which the truth re-enters.
12. Don’t Add What the Sphere Didn’t Say
Tarot readers are warned not to BS. Same rule applies here.
If the orb shows a house, don’t decide it means “love.” If the orb shows a man, don’t assume it’s romantic. If the orb shows coins, don’t force it into a spiritual reading. Interpret exactly what was shown. Scrying is not improv theatre. It’s reportage from the Astral News Network.
13. Context Magick — Personal Interpretation
Your situation shapes meaning.
If you see fire and you love fire → passion.
If you fear fire → conflict.
If snow comforts you → peace.
If snow isolates you → emotional coldness.
The symbol is constant. The meaning is responsive.
14. Element Reversal Technique — Reading by Topic
Tarot sometimes flips suit meanings depending on question type. The sphere can do the same.
For financial readings:
Water = cash flow
Earth = savings
Air = negotiations
Fire = expenses or ambition
For love readings:
Water = emotional alignment
Earth = commitment potential
Air = communication
Fire = passion or risk
The question changes the element’s job.
15. Closing the Sphere — The Dissolve, Not the Dismissal
Never “shut” the orb. Let it fade. In my experience, Crystal sight weakens if you force it closed. It strengthens when you let it drift back into dormancy, like a cat returning to its nap.
When the last image dissolves:
Thank the Sphere. Thank your Sight. Thank the part of you that survived enough lifetimes to see at all.
