GROUNDSKEEPERS
The head shake is a clue in that this isnt flirtatious biting from a young cockerel but that its defensive because im in his space. I breed birds that kids and other vurnerable people will handle so i need birds who are calm and docile with people. Kerbeus has also been going for my hands while im changing out the food and waterers and since he already had signs of aggression as a smaller chick before his hormones came in it just is yet another strike. Unlike his brother Behemoth where after his first spat with his brother he has mellowed out into a nice calm and docile boy like his father.
I still really like little Kerbeus of course but i do eat chicken and i do raise these guys to provide me meat every now and again so such is the circle of life.
The process a National Geographic photographer uses to cull images from a shoot.
Technical issues.
Framing.

Narrative.
Behavior.
Final decision: gut instinct.
What will happen with the wonky babies? If they live, will they be sold as pet only or do you intend to cull due to their possibly poor genetics/deformities?
No judgement in either case, just genuine curiosity!
If a baby can locomote, eat, and grow normally then it is my opinion that they deserve a chance to do so. I don't cull babies unless they have no chance at a quality of life.
They'll go to pet-only homes if they can demonstrate that they are eating, growing, and behaving in typical corn snake ways.
Honestly the snub-nosed kids are probably perfectly fine. It's not really any worse than a boxer dog's short snout, definitely not as bad as a pug or an English bulldog. Since corn snakes do not have a whole lot of sinus in their heads, it doesn't impact their breathing to have a slightly shortened snout. As long as their skulls are well-formed otherwise and their eyes are normal sized they can even be considered cute.
But any with kinks or lumpy heads will absolutely be pet-only.
pls use bleach in a well ventilated area i actually passed out at my old job from too much bleach smell ;;
