As my favorite WUDM blogger, I need to know, what the hell took him a year to open, like for real (besides doing Blanc for a year, which while TOTALLY FAIR I mean like what did he literally do to the church except change the damn sign??) I'm so fricken curious

isnt it interesting that it took them so long to reopen it!! i have decided the one year gap is prime fanfic real estate to have jud be in bureaucratic purgatory with the church bc of the media backlash that is slowly driving him insane and into the arms of a certain detective that is also an easily bored workaholic 🫶 hopefully my fic will satiate this curiosity for some but im also excited to hear what other people think abt this/do with it in their own fics

Slutty Oliver Pratt is Peak Oliver Pratt, that's what made Lake Placid so good.

You are 100% correct, and the further I get in his filmography the more I adore that he seems to have been typecast as adorkable, slutty, frequently-not-sober, and oft-divorced (as in, the man can definitely get it, but his characters can rarely keep it).

The three movies of his I remember most from when I was a kid are Lake Placid, The Three Musketeers, and Gun Shy. I loved all 3 of his characters then, and I love them all the more now.

the daughter got so attached to popstar, they did everything together and she was on the verge of calling her "mom" even tho she never called anybody that not even her birth mother since she left her when she was too young and never got to say the word.

when she woke up the day the news broke, she searched for you and when she didn't find you, she went to eddie and asked "daddy.. where's mom?" and eddie just broke. how was he supposed to explain to his babygirl that her 'mom' was using them both to get to where she wants and now that they're of no use to her, she left them in the dust.

I actually made this my url because I'm the one who kind of started the tattooed Horvath trend 😅

My own personal HC's for what his tatts look like are described in my fic series Leave Your Magic At The Door, here's some excerpts:

" You take a moment to study Horvath as he steps into the dim lighting of the streetlights filtering through your window. His hat, coat, and suit jacket are missing, leaving him looking suspiciously dressed down. The sleeves of his dress shirt are rolled up as well, showing off jagged scars and winding lines of black ink along his forearms. " (From Desperate Times)

Horvath places the cigar back into his mouth and begins working on the buttons of his shirt. Before you can protest, he’s removing it and draping it over your shoulders. In the flickering light of the candle, you can see his tattoos again, various lines and shapes covering his arms from wrist to shoulder. You can see more of them curling around his hips, barely peeking above the waistband of his pants, and a few on his ribs. 

He turns away from you, his attention back on the cigar and the skyline, and you see one more tattoo on his back. It’s not black like the others, but a greenish-white that seems to reflect the little bit of light aimed at it. That’s probably the only reason you can even see it.

I shared that first excerpt the day before I posted the fic in a pretty big Otto Octavius server that had a lot of artists in it, and before I knew it many of those artists (some of whom were and still are prevalent in the fandom) adopted the HC and it just got passed around until it practically became the default for Horvath's description/design in fan work. I even had somebody tell me they were convinced from my fic that he would have tatts in the movie and they were disappointed when he didn't lmao

Oh my friend. Oh my friend, let me introduce you to a semi-local delicacy in my part of the Midwest. Gooey Butter Cake.

It is a strange cake. A delicious cake. A cake made of normal cake ingredients — flour, butter, sugar and egge — and yet looks and occasionally has the consistency of a fucking mistake.

Look at this cake. It looks like it failed to bake properly and yet I can't get enough of it. It tastes like sugar and more sugar. It's immensely popular in my hometown and shows up at literally every picnic I've ever been to. Sometimes people bake blueberries into it in some vain attempt to make a cake that is probably composed of two pounds of butter into a healthy dish (they are wrong, we should accept that this cake with its melted-butter consistency and dusting of powdered sugar is Not Meant to be healthy) and sometimes people put more syrup on this cake because they're heathens with no fear of consequences or the Lord.

I love this cake. I cannot tell you how much I love this cake. I can eat only one very tiny piece of this cake at a time because otherwise I will die but every time I see this cake I go absolutely fucking FERAL for it. It's like an inch tall and should probably not be consumed by beings of sense but if you come down to my side of the Mississippi and join me at the Arch, I will bring you gooey butter cake and we can marvel at the fact that this thing is a point of pride for my city.
