You're the ugliest of them all. Inside and out. Kill me, fine. But you'll still be you forever. And that's a worse hell than anything I can think of.
-Squirrell, Cursed S1E10
My dad started watching Supernatural claiming he “only watched it at the gym”
I went into his room at midnight and he’s sitting there watching this cursed ass series
He looks at me like he’s been caught going off his mf diet
Places the tablet down
And pretends to go to sleep
All while I’m standing there like “they got him. The bastards got my dad.”
(And they’ve got me too)
the weeping monk
the passive aggressiveness and relatability of this beatles cartoon episode lives in my head rent free
I am just screaming into the void tonight. My mouth is in pain because I am missing four teeth.
Let's talk about the side characters.
Pym in my personal opinion one of the best characters on that show. She's cute, funny, super friendly and just baby in general. Her scenes are funny and exactly what you would expect a TV-14 arthurian legend retelling to have. Sad scenes, funny scenes, stressful scenes. Just generally wholesome shit. Healing vikings the best that she can and flirting with Dof while also being such a dork is so cute.
Kaze is a fantastic mentor, there should have been more of Kaze teaching Nimue instead of Merlin. She's smart, strong, has a very pretty voice. She has that single rich aunt vibe to her. She's just such a strong character, she's got combat experience, is more trustworthy, has leadership skills as well. In general a great role model. Think uncle Iroh but with fangs and a sword
Morgana is a very interesting character, her tension with Arthur for being dropped into a convent. Her distaste for authority and general demeanor are fantastic. She is a great lancer for Nimue in the way that she pushes Nimue into the role she needs to take. Morgana really follows the speak softly and carry a big stick motto and I love her for that.
Small one-shot for The Weeping Monk and Squirrel after episode 10?
I love these two so much!
The Weeping Monk knew of the dangers that came with helping the young boy. He was putting himself in danger just for the life of a boy. Though, he couldn’t bear the thought of any harm that came to the boy.
It hurt too much.
He would take many a whipping just for the boy.
The boy reminded him too much of his younger self before he was taken in by Father Carden.
The Weeping Monk still dreaded that day. The day Father Carden took him in was the day his soul was taken from him. His heart.
The day Father Carden took him was the day he became known as the cold-blooded killer. The one who hunted the fey. Never to escape the harsh bite of his blade and arrows.
He was forged into the sharpest blade to be used against his own kind.
Many days after escaping the Red Paladin’s brutal grasp on horseback with the small fey boy known as “Squirrel” was hard on the both of them. The boy whined about when they would reach their destination, and Lancelot was growing tired of hearing Squirrel’s complaints.
“Need I remind you, boy, we don’t have a set destination?” Lancelot hummed softly behind him. He couldn’t help the small hint of a smile that tugged delicately at the corners of his lips. He couldn’t remember the last time he had smiled a genuine smile. The boy brought that out in him.
“I am very aware we have no set destination! I am just very bored.” Squirrel commented, turning his head to face the weeping man.
“I know you are, boy, you have said that many times now. I do not need the reminder.” Lancelot sighed. “Perhaps a small break would do us some good.” He finally caved. Having seen the look in the young boy’s eyes had changed his mind.
Leaning in slowly and wincing, Lancelot tugged softly at Goliath’s reins, directing him off their path and into a well shaded and forested area. They had to stay off the path. Lancelot did not want to risk being found by anyone.
Lancelot shifted over in the saddle and slowly stepped down off of Goliath before helping Squirrel get down. He watched as Squirrel darted over to a shaded tree and sat down underneath it. The sight brought a smile to his lips once again.
“Rest up, Squirrel. We are going to be continuing our move in the morning. It’s best you get well-rested.” Lancelot spoke softly as he tied Goliath’s lead to a nearby tree. After he had finished he turned to look at Squirrel. The boy had a quizzical look on his face, making the Weeping Monk furrow his brows. “What is it, boy?”
“Why did you cut me free?” Squirrel’s voice quivered as he spoke, memory of his capture still fresh in his head. “Why didn’t you leave me to die?”
The boy’s words made his heart sink to the floor. Surely to be swallowed up and never returned. He didn’t know how to say what he wanted to say.
I care about your safety.
You remind me of a younger me.
You didn’t deserve to die.
“I couldn’t just leave you.” Lancelot began, swiftly moving forward and crouching down to be eye level with Squirrel. “I despise seeing children harmed. You needed my protection.”
Sure. It wasn’t exactly what he had in mind, but it would do for now.
Lancelot watched as Squirrel’s expression softened at his words. Squirrel stayed silent for a moment before speaking softly, almost inaudible.
“Thank you.” Squirrel began, and Lancelot smiled. “But you do realize I could have taken that blind idiot right? And those scum warriors! Would have been so easy!”
To that, Lancelot sighed. He had to admit he admired the bravery that the kid held. Much braver than him.
Lancelot settled in beside Squirrel, both blades at his sides just incase. For once, Lancelot felt as if he could relax. He no longer had to fear Father Carden’s abuse and manipulations.
He was glad to just be with the kid. Safe.
