Harry Lewis was well aware of your anxiety before you even started properly dating, you wanted him to be aware of what he was signing himself up for.
He’s barely conscious as he whines into your neck. “Love I promise I double checked the door..”
You sit still for a moment before going to get up, he holds you tighter. “Harry..”
“No, lovie, you stay here I’ll go check again.. okay?”
This time he’s smarter about it, he takes his phone and films himself undoing and then doing up every lock - knowing that seeing it will help you.
Sure enough, you watch the video 6 times, and then settle against his chest.
A week later and he wakes up to an empty bed, he huffs and rolls over, seeing the clock reads ‘01:27’.
He grumbles slightly before stretching and getting up, tugging a shirt over his head to go and find you.
Sure enough you’re wandering around downstairs, his hoodie enveloping you in warmth. “Babe..”
You near enough jump out of your skin, not expecting him to have woken up at half past 1 in the morning. “Jesus Haz, you scared me..”
He trudges over, barely awake, and wraps himself around you, mumbling into your hair. “What are you doing up?”
You melt into his chest, relaxing slightly. “Couldn’t sleep..”
His fingers card through your hair gently, speaking softly. “You should’ve woken me up..”
You huff quietly. “Didn’t want to bother you..”
A few kisses are pressed to your cheek and jaw before he responds. “You’re not a bother.. now tell me what’s the matter”
You shuffle your feet slightly before mumbling, clearly a bit embarrassed about your worries.”I uhm.. I just started thinking that something was going to catch fire.. So I came down to check everything was turned off or unplugged..”
Harry, as always, doesn’t try to tell you that won’t happen - knowing that just makes you feel even more so like your feelings are irrational - he just hums quietly and sits on the couch.
As he settles, comfortable where he is, you tilt your head in confusion. “What are you doing? Aren’t you going back to bed?”
He just shrugs slightly. “Won’t be able to sleep without you.. I’ll stay here with you till you feel safe..”
There’s practically hearts in your eyes as you gaze at him.
Whilst your relationship is public, but private, he knows you get anxious when people come up to you both in public - no matter how kind they may be.
During a quiet morning walk a fan comes over, more than a bit nervous themselves, and politely asks for a photo.
You offer to take it, painfully kind as always, but as soon as the fan is gone you’re practically hanging off his arm - anxious at the reminder that people might recognise you both.
He presses a kiss to your hair, pulling his arm out of your grip to pull you into his side instead. “It’s okay..”
Your hands grip into his hoodie, turned into his side as you walk, taking slow but shaky breaths.
The arm holding you close traces gentle shapes into your shoulder. “You want to go home?”
All of your previous partners would be frustrated with your continuous anxiety, telling you to get over it or making you feel like you were ruining plans.
As you look up at Harry, however, he seems genuinely concerned with your discomfort and how he can make you feel better.
He’s more than willing to unlock and lock every door you want, stay up late into the night until you feel safe enough to sleep, end plans early and turn down event to make sure you’re happy.
He doesn’t see it as an inconvenience when your peace of mind is involved, he never has.
