Harry Lewis:
Anxiety
Harry Lewis was well aware of your anxiety before you even started properly dating, you wanted him to be aware of what he was signing himself up for.
He’s barely conscious as he whines into your neck. “Love I promise I double checked the door..”
You sit still for a moment before going to get up, he holds you tighter. “Harry..”
“No, lovie, you stay here I’ll go check again.. okay?”
This time he’s smarter about it, he takes his phone and films himself undoing and then doing up every lock - knowing that seeing it will help you.
Sure enough, you watch the video 6 times, and then settle against his chest.
A week later and he wakes up to an empty bed, he huffs and rolls over, seeing the clock reads ‘01:27’.
He grumbles slightly before stretching and getting up, tugging a shirt over his head to go and find you.
Sure enough you’re wandering around downstairs, his hoodie enveloping you in warmth. “Babe..”
You near enough jump out of your skin, not expecting him to have woken up at half past 1 in the morning. “Jesus Haz, you scared me..”
He trudges over, barely awake, and wraps himself around you, mumbling into your hair. “What are you doing up?”
You melt into his chest, relaxing slightly. “Couldn’t sleep..”
His fingers card through your hair gently, speaking softly. “You should’ve woken me up..”
You huff quietly. “Didn’t want to bother you..”
A few kisses are pressed to your cheek and jaw before he responds. “You’re not a bother.. now tell me what’s the matter”
You shuffle your feet slightly before mumbling, clearly a bit embarrassed about your worries.”I uhm.. I just started thinking that something was going to catch fire.. So I came down to check everything was turned off or unplugged..”
Harry, as always, doesn’t try to tell you that won’t happen - knowing that just makes you feel even more so like your feelings are irrational - he just hums quietly and sits on the couch.
As he settles, comfortable where he is, you tilt your head in confusion. “What are you doing? Aren’t you going back to bed?”
He just shrugs slightly. “Won’t be able to sleep without you.. I’ll stay here with you till you feel safe..”
There’s practically hearts in your eyes as you gaze at him.
Whilst your relationship is public, but private, he knows you get anxious when people come up to you both in public - no matter how kind they may be.
During a quiet morning walk a fan comes over, more than a bit nervous themselves, and politely asks for a photo.
You offer to take it, painfully kind as always, but as soon as the fan is gone you’re practically hanging off his arm - anxious at the reminder that people might recognise you both.
He presses a kiss to your hair, pulling his arm out of your grip to pull you into his side instead. “It’s okay..”
Your hands grip into his hoodie, turned into his side as you walk, taking slow but shaky breaths.
The arm holding you close traces gentle shapes into your shoulder. “You want to go home?”
All of your previous partners would be frustrated with your continuous anxiety, telling you to get over it or making you feel like you were ruining plans.
As you look up at Harry, however, he seems genuinely concerned with your discomfort and how he can make you feel better.
He’s more than willing to unlock and lock every door you want, stay up late into the night until you feel safe enough to sleep, end plans early and turn down event to make sure you’re happy.
He doesn’t see it as an inconvenience when your peace of mind is involved, he never has.
Chris enjoys a drink with friends as much as the next man, maybe more, but what he can’t stand is influencer parties filled with fake niceties and arrogant bragging. Not to mention the fact it’s hosted in the snobbiest hotel he’s ever seen.
He spots you, someone who looks equally as uninterested and uncomfortable as him, sat at the bar nursing a drink and pointedly ignoring the people around you.
Just as he’s about to walk over to you, looking for anyone he can have a casual conversation without it involving work or any form of networking, another random group spot him and start a conversation.
By the time he sneaks away from them you’re nowhere to be seen, leaving him frowning and scouring the room with his eyes.
He subtly searches the room for a solid 10 minutes before giving up, stepping out of the function room and into the hotel lobby.
The last 10 minutes immediately feel like a waste of time once he spots you sat on one of the armchairs in the lobby, legs tucked underneath you, reading a book you must’ve had stashed in your bag.
Now that there’s no people around he suddenly feels very awkward as he approaches, clearing his throat before speaking. “Not your scene either?”
To his relief you seem happy enough to have company, setting your book down and grinning slightly as you respond. “How can you tell?”
He relaxes immediately, giving his own grin back, glad to have finally found an actual human in a room filled with people he had no interest in. “Just a hunch..”
He takes you moving your bag off of the chair next to you as an invitation, happily plopping down and shrugging off his suit jacket.
He’s pushing his shirt sleeves up his arms when you speak up again. “So.. not a big fan of this kind of thing?”
You chuckle as he puffs out his cheeks before responding. “Definitely not, my mates were supposed to be coming but they bailed.. What about you?”
Your eyes roll on instinct. “My boyfriend’s an influencer, said I should come with him..”
He cocks a brow in interest. “Where is he then?”
It’s your turn to puff your cheeks out. “He decided I’d be okay sat at the bar while he made ‘connections’, it’s been..” You check your watch. “45 minutes.” He can tell you’re upset, and more than a bit annoyed.
He refrains from calling your boyfriend a dick, though he really wants to, and decides to provide some comfort instead. “Well I’m not exactly thrilled about the idea of going back in there. Why don’t I sit with you instead?”
“Yeah?”
“Trust me you’d be doing me a favour.”
Half an hour of chatting and getting to know each other, you end up getting on really well, passes before your boyfriend appears - stepping into the lobby calling your name.
Chris instantly recognises him, a relatively big influencer - smaller than him - that he hasn’t heard the best things about.
The man looks fuming as he approaches. “I thought I told you to sit at the bar.”
You huff quietly. “Over an hour ago, yeah. Surprisingly enough that got boring.”
Chris has to suppress a snort at that, which unfortunately draws the other man’s attention to him. “So you just thought you’d chat up another man?”
It gets even harder to hold back laughter as you tilt your head slightly and give an extremely sarcastic response. “Yes because it’s impossible for me to make friends.”
The amusement vanishes as soon as your boyfriend grabs your wrist and yanks you up. “Come on. We’re leaving.”
Chris is quick to his feet, standing slightly in front of you. “Hey man, there’s no need for that.”
You yank your arm away, staying behind Chris, only proving to make your boyfriend even more angry.
“I said we’re going home. Come.”
“I’m not a dog, I can decide when I want to go.”
The man scoffs. “How else are you going to get home?”
“Maybe I don’t want to go home.”
“Excuse me?”
“I said maybe I don’t want to go home.”
Chris steps fully in front of you when the man goes to grab you again. “You heard them, let’s not escalate this.”
While Chris is an easygoing friendly guy he can hold his own, as proven by the punch he lands on your boyfriend’s jaw.
It’s not much of a fight, a bit of pushing and a few punches, your boyfriend ends up being the one who stumbles out the door - pissed off and embarrassed.
Chris turns around to check if you’re okay and you practically throw yourself at him in a hug. “Thank you.. for standing up for me..”
He huffs quietly, partly amused. “Course.. he was being a dick.”
It’s only when you pull away do you realise he’s bleeding - knuckles cut and black eye forming - he may have won but your boyfriend landed a solid punch of his own. “Are you okay?”
He shrugs despite the fact he can feel his eye swelling already. “I’ll live.”
“You said you’re staying here right?”
“Yeah I’ve got a room for the night.”
You grab his hand and tug him to the lift. “Come on, I have a first aid kit in my bag..”
“I’m fine, really-“
You grumble halfheartedly. “Then amuse me.”
20 minutes later and he’s sat on the bathroom counter, holding an ice pack you’d called reception for to his eye, letting you patch him up despite his insistence that he was fine.
You stand between his knees, gently wiping his hands of any blood. “Sorry..”
He frowns slightly, confused. “Why?”
You sigh quietly, focusing on his hand rather than looking up at him. “If I’d have just gone with him then you wouldn’t have had to stand up for me and you wouldn’t be hurt.”
“Hey, you shouldn’t have to go with someone if you don’t want to.. I’m not angry, I made the choice to stand up for you and I don’t regret it..”
“No?”
“Not at all.. anyone would’ve done it..”
10 minutes of playing nurse and he’s all fixed up, you’re grabbing your bags and getting ready to leave when he speaks up again.
“Where are you going to stay tonight? I assume you’re not wanting to go home yet..”
You shrug. “Probably just find a hotel nearby.”
It’s quiet for a second before he works up the courage to ask you to stay. “Well.. the people who asked me here said my hotel bill is covered.. you could stay, order however much room service you want, and watch some crappy movies with me?”
Turns out you don’t take much convincing at all, if the sight of you in his hoodie and shorts eating pizza is anything to go by.
He can’t help the satisfaction he finds in watching you turn your phone off, sick of your boyfriend calling and texting, to watch a movie with him instead.
If you end up under the covers, tucked into his side with a bowl of ice cream, then that’s nobody’s business.
It’s not often you bother Arthur while he’s making content or hanging out with friends so when you text him mid-stream he’s instantly pausing his game to check.
“How much longer do you think you’ll be?“
“I can end whenever, is something the matter?”
“Don’t feel very well :(“ Then a few seconds later. “Don’t rush though I’m okay”
He smiles softly at how much you want to make sure he’s happy, despite the fact you don’t feel well. Even though you reassured him you’d be fine he was quick to make an excuse and end stream.
As he walks into the lounge he finds you easily, wearing his hoodie, curled up on the sofa watching TV quietly. You only look over as he sits by your feet. “Arthur I told you not to-“
“I wouldn’t have been able to focus on streaming knowing you didn’t feel very well..”
You practically crawl over, laying your head in his lap. “Sorry..”
“I’m not angry at you.. now, what’s the matter?”
“My legs hurt really bad..”
He pets your hair gently, humming quietly in acknowledgment. “Yeah?”
The noise you let out is pitiful, almost a whimper.
“Did you do anything to hurt them?”
“I did a lot of walking today..”
“Where does it hurt?”
“Shins..”
He hums quietly, thinking, before scooping you up and carrying you to bed. “Wait here..” He kisses your head and wanders out before you can stop him.
You hear the bath start and then, a few minutes later, the kettle joins the noises echoing through the apartment.
20 minutes later and you’re lounging against his chest in a warm bath, pain meds starting to kick in as you sip a cup of tea.
His arms stay around your middle, chin on your shoulder as he presses kisses under your ear and speaks quietly. “Feeling a bit better?”
Your head tips back, melting into him. “Mm..”
It reassures him to know you’re not in as much pain now. “How about when we get out we put on pyjamas and I’ll order a takeaway for a movie night?”
The form of confirmation he gets is you turning and kissing him properly, he smiles into it, you’re both a huge fan of nights in spent cuddling.
You weren’t sure exactly when you became apart of the popular ukyt scene, but nevertheless you found yourself slowly becoming close friends with other creators, becoming a frequent face in group videos.
It was only a matter of time before Chris asked you along to a pub golf video and, as per fan requests, you ended up being a pretty permanent member of the line up.
Viewers were a big fan of how “clingy” you got after only a few drinks, even more affectionate than Chris and Arthur TV, it slowly became a running joke.
In the last few drinking videos you’ve been in however, across various channels, some of the more speculative viewers started talking about how you seemed to gravitate toward Arthur Hill once you passed the tipsy mark.
Only an hour into filming a video for George’s channel and you’re lacing fingers with Arthur as you sway slightly on your feet.
Much to the shock of everyone who noticed, he doesn’t pull away but rather lets you lean into his side slightly.
By the end of the night you’re practically glued to him, as is the recent routine with you both, tucked under his arm happily.
It’s only a matter of time before both his and your inbox is full of questions and assumptions, not even the most considerate of edits being able to hide your behaviour.
He only really notices the ‘drama’ when he gets a text from you late one night.
“Sorry”
He’s slightly confused why you’re apologising, there’s always ships and rumours floating around social media, this is no big deal to him.
“???”
“I assume you’re also getting grief in your inbox”
That has him even more lost, you’re all used to fans being invasive and annoying at times.
“Just the typical conspiracies”
The text he gets back was too quick to be casual.
“Oh right”
And not a second later.
“That’s good then”
His brows furrow slightly as he thinks, taking a moment before responding.
“Are you getting hate over it?”
Whilst he’s not known for being the most observant he does pick up on the way you start and stop typing half a dozen times before actually sending a response.
“No”
“Don’t lie”
“It’s fine”
“I’m on my way over”
He doesn’t see the handful of texts you send telling him you’re okay, too focused on shoving a few things in a bag and ordering an uber.
You’re tempted to ignore the knocking at your door but you drag yourself from the couch to answer it.
He’s stood in comfys - sweatpants and a hoodie - with a backpack on and a carrier bag, which he holds up for you to see, in his hand. “Brought some snacks..”
“Arthur I told you I’m fine-“
He completely ignores your protests as he gently pushes past you and into your apartment.
“Arthur”
“Okay, you’re fine, we can still have a movie night.”
You huff, knowing he brought the snacks as an excuse to stay and make sure you’re okay. “Fine.”
An hour passes quickly and it’s obvious you don’t need a drink to be affectionate, curled into his side eating popcorn.
It’s even more obvious that he doesn’t mind the contact as he runs his fingers through your hair. “So.. when are you gonna talk to me?”
Your eyes stay locked onto the Disney movie playing on the TV. “There’s nothing to talk about.”
“Then let me see your phone.”
The huff that comes makes him think he might’ve pushed too hard, that is until you grab your phone and unlock it before handing it over.
Whilst he had fans asking questions in his DMs, the response you had gotten was vile - more swear words, accusations, and insults than he’d ever seen. “Jesus.. why didn’t you tell me?”
“It’s okay..”
“No it’s not.”
“You have to expect hate when you’re in the public eye, we both know that.”
“Yeah hate, not death threats for holding hands with someone.”
He scrolls through a few more messages, face scrunching in disgust as he thinks of a solution. “You’re still looking for a team, right?”
You look slightly confused at the random question, shrugging. “Uh.. yeah? I’m meeting with someone in a week or so.. why?”
“Wait here.” You’re left completely confused as he steps out onto your small balcony, still holding your phone.
You trust Arthur enough to leave the room to put the kettle on for you both. When you come back to the living room, two mugs in your hands and a packet of biscuits between your teeth, he’s still out there but now he’s on the phone to someone.
He comes back inside after another few minutes, handing you back your phone and sitting next to you before explaining. “Since you don’t have one I’ve asked my social media manager to deal with it, okay?”
You practically gape at him. “What?”
He shrugs, sipping his drink. “You shouldn’t have to deal with that - she’ll deal with filtering words, denying message requests, and any damage control posts. I’ve given her your phone number so you might get a few texts if she needs anything from you.”
You wait until his hot drink is set down before tackling him to the sofa, mumbling into his shoulder as you wrap around him sloth style. “Thank you..”
After he catches his breath, having had the wind knocked out of him, he chuckles and hugs you back. “Course..”
You look up at him, still lying on top of him. “No really, I was struggling to deal with it.. thank you”
He looks down at you, hands rubbing up and down your back, speaking softly. “I know how it feels to get overwhelmed like this, you’re allowed to get support..”
For a second time tonight his breath is stolen from him as you lean up and press your lips to his.
He completely freezes and it’s awkward for a moment, you almost pull away to apologise, until his hands are cradling your face and he’s kissing you back.
When you do pull back it’s not far, foreheads pressed together as he mumbles. “Guess they were right then, huh?”
It’s an easy decision that he sleeps over, allowing you both to talk. A lot. It has the added benefit that you can turn your phone off and completely ignore any hate for the time being.
It takes a few days of hard work from his social media manager, and a photo of your two linked hands with a long winded caption explaining the situation, but eventually the hate settles.
He helps you to find and switch over to your own team, making sure you’ll never be put in that situation again, allowing you to continue to be your cuddly self in videos.
Your memories of last night consist of loud music and flashes of bright lights.
The groan waiting to come out is barely restrained as your eyes open to a bedroom which is very much not yours, great.
There’s no time to wrack your brain for a name, wanting to leave before they wake up. You don’t have to remember them, however, when you roll over and see it’s not a stranger in the bed.
You’ve been friends with him for years, even through the hangover you’re fighting you can recognise the messy hair and broad shoulders.
Before you can fall into a full on panic you tug on your own clothes before swiping one of his hoodies, deciding your clubbing outfit isn’t appropriate for the general public.
You pocket your phone and creep out of the apartment, not wanting to wake him or his flatmates.
By the time you get home, a flat only 10 minutes away, you’ve worked yourself into a bit of a state over the whole thing - unaware of whether he’d remember, what it would do to your friendship, and if you’d confessed any feelings whilst drunk.
The day only gets worse as you rush inside and spend over an hour vomiting and crying over the toilet, refusing to even look at your phone.
The day passes with you napping, eating utter shit, and questioning every decision you’ve ever made. No text comes, however, so you assume you’re in the clear and he was too drunk to remember.
That comfort was stollen from you when the next group night out Chris has a bracelet on his wrist, your bracelet, you must have forgotten it when you fled.
Perfect, you slept with one of your oldest friends and he remembers; if the wink he shot you was enough to go off at least.
