I got my wife and I commissions for our D&D characters. This is Solenne, my half-orc bard on the left, and Roisin, my wife’s human rogue on the right.

let’s define the Plan-Narrative Principle as the advice given to writers about defining plans: if the plan is going to go wrong, define it on-screen so that the readers know when something’s wrong; if the plan is going to work, define it off-screen to preserve suspense. here’s the question:

i’m particularly interested in cases where NPCs are involved in the planning process / hire PCs for a heist. do you allow NPCs to provide suggestions, or do you contrive reasons they cannot be included in discussions? if an NPC hires a team for a heist, do they provide anything beyond the information they have?
