I think Eddie is well aware of his feelings towards Buck. I seriously had to rewatch all 3 seasons to figure most of the stuff out, but just listen. This guy knows he loves Buck. Not only in a we work together and he’s my best friend but also in a we’re partners in raising a kid together and I want to spend the rest of our lives with you kinda way.
He doesn’t tell Buck about his feelings because he knows that Buck’s not ready and he’s yet to develop something romantic to Eddie. I personally thought Eddie getting shot would been a great way for Buck to understand that but apparently the guy is even more oblivious than we all think.
Anyway, if Eddie admits his feelings and they are not mutual it will cause Buck to distance himself from Eddie, from Christopher. And I think after lawsuit days this is what Eddie is most afraid of - losing Buck. Not being able to be with him, to spend time with him and reach out to him when needed. Because we all remember how that turned out.
However, Buck will Buck. He’ll not leave. Not Christopher. Not after everything this boy’s already been through. But it will be hella awkward between him and Eddie. When I say hella awkward I mean very, incredibly, outstandingly awkward. And this can affect their partnership not only at work, but also outside of it.
And partially that is why Eddie is still with Ana - nice and easy. If she leaves, she leaves. Yes, it will affect Christopher but not as bad as if Buck does it. Chris sees Ana as a teacher he had, a good friend too, but Buck… Buck is his best friend, his Buck (and that means way more than we all can imagine), also a parental figure. We’ve seen it through seasons: Chris asking to spend Christmas with Buck, running to him when he got mad at Eddie, undoubtably trusting Buck on many occasions etc. Overall, I think we can all understand the difference between Chris losing Ana and Chris losing Buck.
We don’t know, well, we can theorize what season 5 brings, but one thing I’m sure about is that Eddie is well aware of his feelings towards Buck. Will he finally make the first step and admit them? We’ll see. But something I’m sure about is that he’ll not do it until he’s sure his feelings are mutual. Let’s just hope it will not take another disaster for these two idiots to admit their feelings and become #thesetwoboyfriends.
