My opinion is that Solas was BOUND to Mythal and only released in the good ending. I know the writers have said that Solas needed past (Mythal), present (Rook) and future (Lavellan) to align to show him a new path. But, Solas' reaction in Inquisition seems more literal than hyperbole when an Inquisitor drinks from the Well of Sorrows and binds themselves to Mythal.

"You are Mythal’s creature now. Everything you do, whether you know it or not, will be for her. You have given up a part of yourself."

I don't know how it could be interpreted differently, and i wonder if Solas knows this, because HE was bound to Mythal and could not stop his plan to tear down the veil UNTIL she released him from his duty.

Say what you will of Solas and however you decided was the appropriate way he would be tied to the Veil to sustain it but...

I find it very interesting that even a romanced Lavellan couldn't quite convince Solas to drop his plans. ONLY when Mythal releases him from his duties, can Solas make that step. What are your thoughts on how much free will Solas actually had in being bound to duty?

Maybe one warden didn't follow the ''everyone back to Weisshaupt'' order ?

Maybe someone's still out there fighting for Ferelden ?

Maybe a hero is buying time for his people and king to get to Skyhold safely ?

And maybe, just maybe he'll make it out alive once more...?
