how’s chapter 6 of Ache I Still Remember going? I’m excited for it!!

what inspired you to write it? i’m so curious

Oughhh I’ve been struggling I’ll be honest because I’ve been working a whole lot and the burnout is quite intense, but I’m really hoping this week will be different. I do have about 4000 words written and I know what I want to write, I’ve just been so exhausted every time I sit down to do more😭 However I can offer a humble wip for you-

As for the inspiration:

I’m not kidding it just popped into my head one day at work and the story kept spinning itself for the rest of my shift, to the point that I had to sit down and write out that first scene in the cemetery like as soon as I got home. I’ve always wanted to write trans Will, but never had an idea I was passionate about enough that I felt I could do him justice, AND I’d kind of wanted to do an estranged byler story where they shared a kid, but tended to write trans Mike and couldn’t really rationalize any situation where Mike would willingly hide a child from Will, so I’m not kidding I was just mulling it over in my head and thought “well yeah but tbh Will could” and just. Stopped. Because Will is just that kind of self-sacrificing where he gives his happiness up for others that if he really thought that keeping something like that from Mike would be better for him, yeah he WOULD do it. Will’s constantly sabotaging himself in canon and prioritizing other people, whereas I think Mike knows Will well enough that if he were in that situation, he’d know that Will would want to know no matter what. Will doesn’t really have that awareness of Mike anymore. And this is for canon too, I feel like fundamentally as people Mike still knows how Will operates, still understands how his head works even if he doesn’t have much insight into his heart anymore, while Will was so blindsided by Mike’s changes in season 3 and onward that sometimes he feels like he doesn’t know Mike at all (he does, he does, Mike’s just trying to hide from it because he knows Will knows him). Sorry this got long, I have lots of thoughts about them, but yeah I liked the drama, wanted an excuse to write more estranged byler, I LOVE dad Will- particularly single dad Will and he is such a rarity in fics- and also I immediately got attached to Jackson and his dynamics with all the other characters so I was hooked. I do hope to write that prequel fic because I want to explore the early years with Will and Jackson a little more, and I also want to pick through Will’s head and get into some of the nitty gritty parts of being a trans guy (particularly a trans guy who has a baby) in the 90s and also just in general. Trans stories are really important to me for obvious reasons and also because of how things are right now in the world and my country, and it brings me some comfort to explore these sorts of stories and still give the characters a happy ending. I feel like I write a lot of family stories and AUs for my favorite characters and I will not lie I think it’s because I like seeing queer characters get to be happy and safe (especially when such things feel so bleak and unrealistic in real life sometimes😅)

okay so I'm thinking mid 20s byler at some big Wheeler family gathering and it turns out that mike really loves kids, he's great with them and they love his stories. Will tends to stand around talking to some friendly aunts or Nancy, while Mike entertains a small army of little Wheeler cousins. Will obviously thinks this is extremely cute and watches fondly, and then. someone hands mike a baby. this is absolutely devastating to poor will, who has never really been that bothered about babies in that youngest-sibling no-extended-family type way, and now he feels like he's been shot because mike is holding a baby and bouncing it and singing to it. it's the best thing will has ever seen in his life and he's going to die right there.

the auntie that Will's been talking to just watches Will have a heart attack with a knowing smirk and wonders when she should start planning her next baby blanket.

his parents and older sister died in a fire of their house

it was caused by some racists from derry

he played outside at that time, when he get back home it was too late to even call for help

mike found him on the streets the same night, when he was walking home from library and immediately took him home with him

he had posttraumatic shock after seeing his home at fire and he didn't wanna talk at all

his name was stitched on the back of teddy bear (only thing he had from his old home) to not lost it

"leo? is that your name?" *nod* "don't worry, you're safe now"

his second first word was 'dad' and mike started crying after that

mike thought he doesn't need anyone else, he had his perfect family of losers, but now he can't imagine not being dad to his little leo

he doesn't remember much of his early childhood because of the trauma

loves spending time in the library with his dad and learns to read fluently by the age of seven

beck, mike, jacob & georgie all takes him as little brother and he's part of the losers club vol.2

has special bond with beck (reminds him of his real older sister)

also has special bond with jacob (the youngest needs to stick together), basically it's georgie & bill vol.2

bill has a theory: "i know we killed IT for good but we also know that IT woke up every time some tragedy happened in derry and what if... what if the tragedy was his family death and he's another georgie... he's so little and he reminds me so much of him, i'm just worried..." ~ everyone assures him that's not gonna happen, but bill's worries never truly goes away

and has special bond with uncle bill thanks to that

however they never let him be alone, since he started school every time he's walking home with mike, one of the kids or losers, when no one can it's bill, he always makes time just not to let that kid to be alone

The idea of dad!Michael taking care of his little one after they fell and scraped their knee makes me so soft

“it’s okay buddy, i’ve got you.” michael whispered as he wiped his little boys tears away. glancing down to the skinned knee, he continued to make soothing sounds as he picked him up easily, making his way back into the house.

he went to the cabinet under the sink to grab the small first aid kit, rummaging through as he sat him up on the countertop, before finding the plasters that he was after.

“oh you brave boy, lets clean that up. this is gonna sting, okay?” he took the alcohol wipe out, earning another wail from his son, applying the plaster as quick as he could before grabbing a tissue to wipe the build up of snot.

“shall i use daddy’s magic kisses to make it better?” he asked and his tearful little boy nodded.

he peppered the plastered area with several kisses until there was a small giggle and michael smiled as he picked him up, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead.

“there we go buddy, you’re gonna be fine.” he reassured as he moved the two of them into the lounge, switching on the tv before sitting down.

michael knew it was a bad one because he cuddled up into him, no arguments and michael realised he was most likely tired too.

Omg could you draw Mike/Green Pippins X3 would be so cool

Aww!!! You know, I haven't settled on a green pippin design yet, though ive quite liked this snippin (snake pippin) thing cheesy started...since it would make sense if he came from king of diamond's pool as it were to be snake themed...before that I was working on a "hare" design since on air pippins are rabbit coded But since my mike IS well....Mike, how about some of Mike, pippins AND green pippin for your trouble!!
