Since 2010, Iceland's Snævar Njáll Albertsson (not quite Midwestern) has been crafting a pop/folk sound that is rarely disagreeable, and never uninspiring or drab. His upbeat melodies and quirky lyricism hit a new high with his 2014 release, "Year of the Flesh"--same old Dad Rocks, new lush trumpet and string sounds.
