I think the only way Emmrich could be convinced to have more than one child is if rook had twins or triplets, ngl. each year he gets older the more self conscious he gets about being a dad.
So now consider his reaction to rook being pregnant with triplets.

As shell-shocked his reaction would be to learning he was going to be a father at all, honest to god, I feel in my bones the man would ACTUALLY faint! Or at least disassociate until shaken outta his stupor.
In my headcanon their first would be a world-altering accident as my Rook didn’t think she was able to conceive. While sorting their affairs for their toddler’s future should the inevitable happen, they both came to a realization how painstakingly lonely it was as a child to be orphaned/a founding. Having no family whatsoever to stick to. Especially difficult with Rook’s neurodiversity.
So even though they had their fears of parenthood, in the end they decided on just one more. Although now that you say it, now I’m headcanoning that second pregnancy being surprise twins!
All that said and done, there is a severe lack of parent!Emmrich content! Just imagine the ultimate Emmrich404 face when he learns the news! If I had any artistic talent I’d be drawing that face all day!
