• Damon isn't "gentle"... but with you, he can be. He won't admit it, but he lets his guard down around you because he feels comfortable, and he likes to treat you with respect.

• He's extremely observant with you, noticing small changes in you, how you stop talking if you're feeling down, how you fidget with your hands if you're uncomfortable, how you avoid looking around. And as soon as he detects it, he tries to address what's bothering you. He takes your hand without asking and leads you away from noise or people; he doesn't care about interrupting anything or anyone. If someone was the cause of your stress, his expression changes completely, and that person better pray... because Damon doesn't forgive easily, especially when he's hungry.

• With you, he uses physical contact like there's no tomorrow. His hands are always touching you: your waist, your face, your hands, your legs, your thighs. Damon loves to touch you in every way possible, depending on the situation.

• The version he shows to the world is arrogant and provocative, but with someone he trusts, the calmer Damon would appear—the one who listens, remembers stories, and lets his fears show.

• He would be very protective, but he would learn boundaries. His first reaction to danger would be to want to solve everything on his own, but over time, you show him that in a healthy relationship with someone like you, protecting doesn't mean controlling. Although he'll most likely forget about boundaries and continue behaving just as protectively towards you.

• The first time he bites you, it would be very difficult for him because his biggest fear would be becoming someone who hurts the person he loves. Obviously, he would ask for your consent first. If you agree, he would do it very carefully and only a little so as not to hurt you and to keep control.

• Once he realizes you like being bitten, he won't stop. He tries to do it gently, but if he's very aroused in the moment, he might be rougher and leave marks in hidden areas so as not to raise suspicion. The taste of your blood drives him wild.

• He would probably have mixed feelings about the decision to transform you into a vampire. Part of him would say that being a vampire means no one can easily hurt you because Damon knows how dangerous it is to be human in his world. But another part wouldn't want you to have to bear this burden because he knows the loneliness, guilt, and weight of live for centuries. Damon knows that immortality comes at a price, so he wants you to have the choice; he doesn't want to decide for you.

• Confessing to you that he's a vampire would be incredibly frustrating for him. He'd try to drop hints, act differently, and things like that. Eventually, he'd get tired of pretending and tell you straight up, without beating around the bush. After saying it like that, he'd explain that it's not something he chose, that he's made mistakes, and that he understands you need time to process it.

• Damon would have a constant internal battle between "I'm a mess, stay away from me" and "Please stay because you're one of the few things that make me feel human." That contradiction haunts him every night. (And it's Stefan's torment to have to listen to him talk about you for nine hours straight.)

• He's going to annoy you every day, pretend you're a distraction, and make sarcastic comments all the time, but if anyone tries to hurt you, they'll find out exactly why Stefan calls him "dangerous."

Super short story! Was an idea that’s been playing over and over in my head after hearing that TikTok sound that’s like “do I look like your girlfriend? No…my late wife”

Doppelgänger

Summary: Elena had a twin but they had to be separated in hopes Klaus couldn’t get them both. It may be similarities which draw the initial attention but it’s the differences which built the attraction.

Y/N had been born just moments after Elena. Twins.

Grayson and Miranda were happy to raise them both but when the girls started to get older they recognised their faces.

"They hold the curse of the doppelgänger, Miranda. The beast will come for them and imagine his delight that there's two!" Grayson exasperated whilst his wife wiped at her tears.

"How will we give one up? Can't we protect them both? Abby and Shiela-" She tried but it was no use. They were safer apart and they had to choose. In some ways they were protecting the Y/N more by sending her away from Mystic Falls, the home to nothing but supernatural trouble. But they were also sending her into a system built on flaws.

They didn't speak of her and eventually all Elena had was a faded memory of her 'imaginary best friend-twin'.

But Y/N remembered all too well how she was lifted away, told that she mustn't be afraid. "He'll come for you one day, angel." Grayson whispered, holding her little hands in his. "It's a fight none of us can win and you'll have to run."

The words hung with her and so did the memory of Elena.

Unfortunately, the curse of the doppelgänger was to be tangled in supernatural and even though she wasn't in Mystic Falls, Y/N too ended up wrapped in a vampire nest.

It wasn't long before Damon walked in, on edge and annoyed as he waited to meet an old friend when he saw her.

"Katherine." He stated dryly, eyes narrowing and Y/N tilted her head.

"Do I look like your girlfriend?" She asked, tone dry yet a touch amused. Damon's brow twitched, she wasn't Katherine and she definitely wasn't Elena.

"No..." He trailed, a little confused and Y/N's lips slowly twitched in realisation. She'd kept tabs on Elena and this must be Damon.

"No?" She smiled, standing up from her seat making him straighten up. "Ex?"

"Who are you?" He questioned, almost accusatory but he couldn't help stepping back when she got to close.

"Is it as uncanny as people say?" She asked, genuine curiosity seeping through. Damon just stared at her, he could hear her blood, smell it. She was alive and human.

"How..." He whispered and she sighed.

"Who are you here for anyways?" She muttered. "If you're waiting for Dean he's been missing for days. Probably dead." Her shoulders shrugged and he stepped forward, his hand reaching to touch her hair and she let him. It was like he was checking she was real. "I'm her twin, Elena I mean." She clarified and watched the strands fall from his fingers. "We were separated to try and keep at least one of us alive." Y/N explained, "Elena doesn't know, nobody really does."

"Why would I believe that?" Damon countered, a frown on his face and she rolled her eyes.

"I'm living and breathing aren't I?" Y/N scoffed and Damon swallowed the lump in his throat.

"Yes...you are." He mumbled glancing at the door he was waiting by. "Well I guess I should go if Dean's gone." His throat cleared and he turned.

"Don't tell her." Y/N called, an undertone of pleading there and he kept walking.

For some reason he didn't utter a word to a soul about her. But he did think a lot.

And he ended up returning, making his way through the halls wondering how she ended up in a vampire nest unscathed.

He found her looking out of a broken window, poetic truly, the moon full and high in the sky. "Your hair's a little different from Elena's." Damon announced himself and she hummed like she knew he was there already.

"What's she like?" Y/N asked, a little quieter than intended and Damon sat down beside her.

"I can show you." He murmured, hand out for her to dive into his memories. After a moment she pulled away, looking back to the abyss in silence. Damon could see the lone tear against her cheek and took it upon himself to wipe it from her skin.

"I thought about coming back, when they died but...they sent me away and I refuse to return for them." She sniffed and he nodded.

"Who'd they give you to?"

"Nobody." Y/N whispered. "The doorstep of a home that didn't want me that sent me to another home and another and another until I got out myself." She muttered, her jaw clenching and the tears stopping.

"Why vampires?" He asked, never looking away from her.

"They don't die so easy." She shrugged. "They think I'm special, powerful because I have the same face as a dozen more." Y/N scoffed.

With time Damon started to notice the differences between all of the doppelgängers. Personality was obvious but he was making an effort to find physical differences to feed back to her.

"Your eyes are darker." He murmured, stroking her hair back from her face as she narrowed said eyes at him. "And your nose scrunches differently." Damon teased.

"Why do you come here?" She questioned. "Because you can't have Katherine? Or Elena?"

"Because you're neither of them." He whispered, cupping her face in his hands.

I heard the front door open and my body jolted up right. I ripped the blanket off of me and bounced up desperate to see who was at the door. Praying it was Damon. I paced toward the hall way and saw Stefan standing at the end. “Stefan? Did you find him?” I blinked not moving any other muscle. I didn’t know what u wanted his answer to be. If he had found him then why wasn’t he here?

“Yes” Stefan answered, slowly. He looked at the ground as if he was hiding something.

“What? What is it?” I swallowed taking a few steps towards the vampire.

“I think Damon may have lied- his blood lust is higher than he explained” Stefan admitted, scratching the back of his neck. He edged towards me and took my hands in his.

“He’s really craving- badly- he wouldn’t listen to me- it’s off y/n” Stefan shook his head as if disappointed in his brother, or maybe even himself.

“Shit- did he- kill?” I stuttered, crossing my toes hoping Stefan wouldn’t give me news I didn’t want.

“Not yet… he’s trying to fight it” “I need to see him Stefan” I hurried, grabbing my coat off the coat rack.

“Y/n he could hurt you please don’t go after him when he’s like this” “Stefan” I sighed turning to him.

“I can’t let him kill someone, he will hurt too much after realising what he’s done- I can save him from that guilt”

Stefan smiled at me. “You like him don’t you?”.

“Something like that” I chewed my lip, looking down to the floor. Stefan nodded, never losing his smile.

“You’ll be careful won’t you?”

“Of course, he won’t hurt me Stefan I know he won’t” I rubbed his arm before throwing my coat on myself and grabbing my keys from the side table.

“And you’ll call me if you need me?” He desperately asked, with wide eyes. I could see their shine from the other end of the corridor.

“Stay by your phone” I nodded my head grabbing the door handle and pulling it open. And with that I left the safety of the Salvatore house. And went to find a rouge vampire. I didn’t know he wasn’t going to hurt me, I hoped he wouldn’t but I didn’t know. What I did know was that I needed to try.

The last place Stefan went to look for Damon had been the bridge, so that was where I was going to go. As I was driving along the dark road my mind wondered away at all the outcomes what was to come.

Out of nowhere I see something big and black in the middle of the road. My eyes widened and I slammed on my breaks skidding to a halt. The night was quiet and a little foggy, nothing was around for miles apart from trees and more trees.

I blinked coming to reality but when I looked back to the road there was no one there. Nothing there.

“What the hell?” I breathed looking around. Curiosity got the better of me and I opened my car door stepping out side into the dark.

I immediately felt cold and wrapped my coat around me tighter. I looked around to see if I could see where it went.

Suddenly I felt hands on my shoulders and a man was standing in front of me. His hand push my head down exposing my neck as his mouth was wide open showing his long fangs.

“DAMON!” I screamed just in time.

He stopped and his grip loosened. I looked up at his face, it had dropped. He looked scared. His hands dropped off me and he took a step back shaking his head and turning on his heels.

“Where are you going!” I shouted before he could leave.

“I’m so sorry” he shook his head. still facing away from me.

“You didn’t hurt me” I told him walking round so I could look at him.

“I almost did! I almost killed you!” He protested backing away again leaving space between us. I could see how much he was straining.

“What are you doing here anyway?” He blinked at me, actually looking into my eyes now.

“Looking for you…” I trailed off slowly because he was already shaking his head again.

“Go home- or go back to Stefan” he tried to walk off again.

“Damon wait!” I called out running after him and grasping his hand in mine.

“No im not safe right now! You need to get away from me” he tried to pull away but i wouldn’t let him. “I can’t be around you what don’t you understand!”.

“You need to talk to me! You can’t expect me to go away and worry about you being out here alone! I need you to tell me how I can help” I cried out interlocking our fingers while he shook his head.

“You can’t help me! I flipped my switch you need to leave me alone” he snatched his hand away from me. He was slipping away, I could feel him going, his humanity getting further away.

He began to walk off again. My heart beat faster and I looked around for inspiration. On the floor was a glass bottle which someone has clearly thrown out the window.

I grabbed a shard and slid it across my wrist so that it began bleeding. Damon automatically stopped in his tracks. I slowly walked back to him.

“What are you doing” he eyed me dangerously. I put my wrist up to his face and watched as his eyes began to change. “Stop it!” He growled. “Are you trying to get your self killed?”.

“Drink it” I ordered. He was straining, trying not to work with me, trying not to come back. I put my other hand behind his head, in his hair and moved my head closer. “I’m here Damon, I trust you, drink it”.

I moved it closer and his teeth sank into my wrist giving in. I exhaled, never feeling a feeling like it before. As he drank more his body loosened and his hands pulled me in closer. One wrapped around my waist and the other locked in with the fingers of the wrist he was drinking from.

When he stopped drinking he stared into my eyes not blinking once.

“Why would you do that for me?”.

“Because I love you Damon” I whispered not being scared anymore. Maybe it was the feeling of blood sharing which made me forget how vulnerable that sentence made me.

His pupils widened as the words lingered in the air. And just like that his eyelids fluttered shut. Opening a few seconds later. It was on. He was back.

He didn’t say anything, just launched himself forward kissing me. I’d waited so long for him to do that. I’d thought about so many different ways it would have happened, but never like this. However I wasn’t complaining. One of his hands moved up to the back of my head gently as our kiss deepened. He tasted of blood but that didn’t matter, it was finally happening.

Damon pulled away with his forehead on mine.

“I love you too y/n”.

“You’re back?” I whispered, double checking as I caught my breath.

“I’m back gorgeous, I’m back”. I smiled and pulled him into kiss me again.

“Thank you” he whispered against my lips.

“I’d go to the ends of the earth to bring you back Damon”.

Ended up without a soul/humanity because they needed to save people from an old evil guy

And subsequently became more sassy without a soul
