My Sunday Nights Just Got Better...
I had the privileged of going to Detox Nights last night and did I not have the time of my life? I left with stomach cramps and my cheekbones paining me. I have never laughed so much in one night.
Held at Dingwell’s in Camden, the atmosphere was great and so was the line up. Hosted by the lovely, funny and handsome Kevin J (No he didn’t pay me to include that), he done what he does best and kept the crowd entertained throughout the night. Dane Baptiste had the crowd rolling with laughter throughout his set, to the point that I was spilling my drink all over the place.
Headlining Detox Nights was Kat B. Now I have grown up watching Kat on MTV and watching him at pantomimes and he NEVER fails to put a smile on people’s faces, no matter what age he knows how to entertain us all. He introduced himself and gave the crowd a preview of his dance moves including the butterfly slut drop (yes I made that move up) which almost didn’t end well. Nevertheless he kept jokes going until the end of the night.
There were games, competitions and debates during the show; which I absolutely loved the concept of. The topic for the debate was Sex and relationships, from that subject alone you know it was about to get heated. The debate was hosted by Kevin J and the beautiful agony aunt Oloni and they were accompanied by two males and two females from the crowd. The questions that were asked during the debate had the whole venue going crazy, there were a few fella’s in the building digging a really deep hole for themselves with the answers they were giving to the questions Oloni was asking. Some of them probably left Dingwalls single lol.
As if I thought the venue didn’t need any more entertainment, I decided to participate in a dance off to win tickets for the next show.
* DISCLAIMER: I went up on stage for banter, I really don’t dance like a white woman on a Friday night dancing to Britney Spears after a few too many drinks.*
I basically didn’t win, but I reckon I brought ‘You got served’ with a mix of ‘Step up’ on stage, I guess that wasn’t good enough.
There was no way that I could forget the amazing performers. Jordan King...Jordan King...
*takes a deep breath* that voice gave me goosebumps all over. This was my first time hearing his name and hearing him sing and he blew me away. You know when you are feeling someboy’s voice so much you sit there, with your head tilted and you just zone out to their singing...yeah that’s basically what Jordan King had me doing. Watch the footage that I posted below this post and you will understand what I mean. Of course I can’t forget the wonderful Leora Leone who just smashed it! Leora performed a cover of Tink’s ‘Treat Me Like Somebody,’ she sung it without effort, you can tell she does this in her sleep.
Overall it was a lovely night and I had an amazing time, I definitely recommend you to check out Detox Nights, you won’t be disappointed. Trust me on this one...my Sunday nights just got better.
