GoT/ASOIAF Meme
GoT/ASoIaF Meme I was multi-tagged by @maidenoftheforestlight, damn was it hard to find people I hadn’t seen already do this. Rules: answer the questions and then tag seven people.
The first character I fell in love with: Bran. He was immediately interesting because he showed up early and felt so very human. I have issue with how children are often portrayed in media but books especially, they tend not to act or think like real kids. Martin never has that problem and Bran didn’t feel like a weird pure four year old that it seems like most children under 13 get put into in a lot of books, Bran has a real internal world and character that I have always appreciated.
A character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Catelyn Stark. Catelyn is a character I really enjoy without realizing it my first two times through. Her first two chapters make the North and her relationship with Ned seem really eerie and haunting in a beautiful yet austere way, much like winter itself. That unease pervades her every chapter, she is always aware of her surroundings and how she should act.
A character everyone else loves that I don’t: Tywin. Not so much in these circles but I see a lot of people describe him as some really intelligent and philosophically interesting/correct. This is in part due to the tv show where they think is coolest facist, rapist, war criminal grampa but it exists even in circles that don’t look to that. Charles Dance is great but honestly Tywin stands as an lesson on the heights you can rise by cheating the social order but also how that is not a tower that will stand because you garner no trust and make enemies even of your children. He’s a foil for Ned more than anything.
A character I love that everyone else hates: I think any Martell but Oberyn is the obvious answer but also I’ve seen people really rag on Sam. This is partially because they don’t realize he is meant to be an awkward teen who doesn’t know how to process having sex or traveling the world. He is absolutely strong in the real way.
A character I used to love, but don’t any longer: Tyrion, I still find him funny and interesting but on reread and after ADWD you realize that push comes to shove he talks a big game about compassion but the place in his heart for cripples, bastards, and broken things is largely a crock of horseshit.
A character I would kiss: Tyene Sand, dangerous hands and the fear of poison is kind of huge turn on, especially on girl who looks so innocent.
A character I’d slap: Rhaegar mother fucking Targaryen
A character I’d want to be like: Garlan Tyrell, unless something comes up he’s a badass and nice when he doesn’t need to be.
A character who makes me laugh: Dolorous Edd is the weird uncle I wish I had.
A character I miss: Beric he was trending dark but still a pretty cool guy for a corpse.
A pairing I love: Sansan, Jonerys, and Jonsa, I know, it’s mostly @wendynerdwrites for that last one but they all work pretty well in the text and with how the characters think.
A pairing I don’t like: Jorerys, Dany doesn’t want it and I don’t care that he's a nice guy.
I tag @winterfellsrose, @knightsinquisitor, @justadram, @queenblackbetha, @nanshe-of-nina, @lyannas, and @asoiafedit
