Dan logically knows that the things he’s doing is vile, but he would rather be doing this then let his siblings go hungry the THREE two of them had done so much for him.
When Dan had first been let out of the thermos, he’s only thoughts were revenge and holy shit it was bright, but before he could start doing his thing of destroying everything in his general area.
Clockwork had stated that if Dan didn’t want to go back in the thermos and get thrown somewhere and forgotten about he had to play nice and try to work through his shit with the little shit and his friends, and because Dan isn’t fucking stupid he knew Clockwork would hold true on his words.
So Dan play nice with the alternate him and whatever, he had fully expected to the little shit to give up after a few weeks and tell Clockwork he’s a lost cause and let Dan rot, Dan was Not fully fine with it he didn’t want to deal with the twerp either.
But then Dan started to enjoy talking with Danny and hanging out with him and the others.
Like he got to just exist around Jazz that made something in his chest uncoil that Dan didn’t want even realized was there, He got to see Sam and Tucker again it was a bit weird at first as he knew that this wasn’t his Sam and Tucker along with the fact he had gotten to grow up a bit and acted as the “Adult” when the four of them were doing something and he even got to meet Dani! Who didn’t even exist in his world, he liked the gremlin they both liked chaos.
Dan felt like he could finally be happy for once after he and Vlad’s souls fused into one, like he felt like his core was cooling down to a magma then the wild fire of emotions he’s dealt with for so many years.
But it seems whenever Dans is finally feeling at home at peace, Fate decides to fuck him over.
It was one day, one day Dan was just in Clockworks tower just talking to the man who had grown to be a father figure to him while being he’s usual little shit self when Clockwork went stiff and the sound of a portal ripped through the nonexistent air as Danny, Dani and Jazz fell through and the portal that just showed up burned down from the other side.
Dan rushed over to check on the three in panic, he felt his core heating back up in the painful way it had all that time ago.
Danny was on the bottom of the pile his eyes open but unseeing with a glazed look on his face, his chest torn open and bleeding a disgusting mix of human blood and ectoplasm that was constantly burning itself up and regenerating itself over and over letting out pops and whining sounds as it boils the blood and burns the flaps of skin covered in it, Dan could see his little brothers organs were they were being boiled in his own blood.
Dani was on top of him, hiding some of Danny’s injuries as her body melted her body trying to return back to that goo where she was made from well she screamed and yelled in agony and panic over her body and the sight of Danny, Dani was weeping tears that burned her cheeks while her body melted with a disgusting sizzling sound mixed with the sound of bloody wet meat rapidly melting then reforming as Dani’s body try’s to fix herself while destroying her.
Jazz was on top of both of them, her body set like a shield Dan couldn’t see her face only the large gaping hole in her back through her like someone carved out her insides while the burned skin sizzled and popped while smoke come from the wound.
Dan can’t remember what happened after that, everything was just chaos and he’s mind was replay how this could have happened in such a short time how he had been so happy only for him to lose it all just like that.
The next time Dan comes too, he’s standing in an old apartment somewhere with a de-aged Danny in his arms and Dani on his back, along with some suitcases filled with bedding and other things to make this place better then it is and a note from Clockwork explaining where he is (Somewhere called Crime ally in Gotham) and wis- giving him a good luck.
Dan holds Danny and shifts Dani from her place against his back into his arms, holding the two of them close hearing their slow heartbeats and the cold breathe as they breath in the dark apartment with a storm raging outside.
Dan refuses to lose his family for a third time.
And that’s what Dan did, he made it work.
When Danny and Dani would wake up screaming and crying on the mattress they all shared on the floor until Dan could get a job, Dan would hold them and be the steady force that helped them calm down and fall back asleep in his arms.
When Dan couldn’t get a regular job for some Ancient damned reason and he was running low on money to get enough food for the three of them to eat to not be constantly starving even if Dan gave his part to the twins, Dan found a Job dealing with the…aftermath and soon to be aftermath of people who got on the wrong side of his customers.
When Dan noticed how the twins, even if they have more food then they did, they were still starving due to how low the ecto is here compared to their home dimension and how they were not dead enough to make their own, so Dan worked with it.
Dan was keeping his little family safe and happy, so what if Dan was chopping up and torturing humans and feeding them to his little siblings.
It’s not like Dan asks what the people did or who they were, why should he care if what they did what they did for their family as well?
Why should he care for the people he kills when they feed his baby sibs? When they keep them safe and healthy, by his side so Dan can take care of them.
He needs to take care of his own little family so he makes it work
•Ghost rely on the Ectoplasm a lot more then anyone thought they did, Ghost make up for the fact they usually don’t eat with Ectoplasm as their bodies make more then enough and they literally live in the stuff.
•But for Halfas their body only makes a little less then half of what they need (hence the name) so they either need to eat a shit ton more human food oooor eat humans as the acting components that make up human blood and meat along with certain parts of the bone act to make up the rest of what a Halfa needs to live.
•And the Nightingales don’t have the money to get that much food, so Humans it is!
•…I legitimately don’t know what happened when I was writing the scene with Dan and injured Danny, Dani and Jazz, I blacked out and just gore shitty gore but gore.
•Dan acts as a murderer for hire! But he has two rules One no kids (He may be doing this but he’s isn’t cutting up no kid…also they are too small to fill Dani and Danny for them to be full so no) and he keeps the body no questions.
•Ectoplasm acts as a strong as hell acid when it comes into contact with human anything, it’s acts like blood blossoms do with ghost but 10x worse and smells worse.
•Dan doesn’t have to eat human, he’s more ghost then human at this point like a quarter human with the rest ghost so his body makes enough for him to eat, I mean enough to survive not enough to be healthy so he’ll usually just take a guys hand or forearm and eat that the rest of the body goes to feeding the twins.
•Jazz didn’t become a ghost because she died due to a weapon made for ghost, if she was taken out by literally anything else she would have become a ghosty.
•Sam and Tucker are def died and also died to weapons made for ghost so they to are not ghost, but don’t tell Dan about how the three of them died because he will have another mental breakdown.
•The reason Halfa’s are so rare is because they don’t really survive long after becoming Halfa’s because most of the time they don’t realize what they have become and most the time throughout history they haven’t had the money to get that much food so it looks like they either starved to death or from complications from whatever happened it them.
•I have absolutely no idea how to add more DC into this so I’m giving it to all you gremlins, go crazy. Did the GIW get them or the Fentons? Who knows I refuse to think about this anymore.
He wears this when he’s cutting people up so no blood gets on his regular clothes and accidentally freak out the twins.
