Lately I'm having ideas before going to sleep... Another midnight prompt:
Jason thought it was funny.
He had been seeing this flyers everywhere about this tournament to win the right to adopt the prince of this place called the infinite realms, not realizing very few people seem to be able to see them. It was clearly some kind of joke, or maybe a reference for a new movie/game he hadn't heard of. So course Jason took a pen and wrote on one of them that Bruce Wayne was participating.
He thought it was funny. He still thinks it is, having the adoption addict in an adoption tournament it's funny! But he can admit, that the tournament being real, and very magical, make things a little complicated.
-_-_-_-
Danny will still be a ghostling for a long time, and elder ghosts in general have decided it would be healthy for him and Ellie to have an appropriate guardian, now that the prince and his mirrorborn were forced to leave their home dimension. Danny has met a lot of people he trusts at this point, and isn't so sure about choosing, or if he even wants any of these people as guardians. Look, he knows they're technically neons old, but a lot of them feel like peers, or older siblings, definitely not guardians.
So. After a lot of whining from literally every ghost that was even a year older than him, Danny set up an adoption tournament to get them off his back. He'll surely be able to make up his mind by the time the tournament is done.
Why is a random human being appointed by a revenant for the tournament? Eh, whatever, if they want to try their luck, why not let them? Frostbite had said it would be good if his guardian was at least somewhat connected with humanity. He'll point to this guy as proof he's trying to find someone that meets that requirement.
I keep imagining a world where Danny is Bruce's bio kid but they (the bats and the pham both) only find out after both Dan and Ellie have happened, so it's the Fentons politely emailing their old threesome buddy that a) Their kid is his kid and here's the proof, b) the kid multiplied and it's actually three bio-kids not one, and c) none of them want to meet him for various reasons.
Dante remembers what it felt like to rip B's spine out and hang his corpse from Gotham's skyscrapers and hasn't decided whether or not he feels guilty about it.
Ellie has an inherent distrust of all male authority figures after Vlad's nonsense.
Danny has both of the above plus complicated feelings about the JL, batman's role as a human-centric hero, and all the other kids B already has.
Danny was the biggest mystery of Amity Park. No one could ever figure out what was going on with him—he started skipping classes, destroying things, and speaking in some strange code, ecc ecc.
So when he was discovered with an infant who looked exactly like him, a lot of things suddenly started to make sense. People assumed he had gotten someone pregnant and was struggling to adjust to his new responsibilities. After all, he was biologically male, so the natural assumption when the mother was nowhere to be found, was that he had been assaulted by an adult woman who then abandoned the baby to him.
What they didn’t account for was the biology of a Halfa. He was the mother. And while Ellie was technically his clone, he had to use the DNA of the guy he had his first time with to stabilize her. He just hoped Tim wouldn’t take his absence too hard. But between his life as a vigilante, a student, a mother, and the heir to the Infinite Realm, he simply hadn’t had time for a relationship
Danny wasn’t having a good time. In fact, he was having a very, very, very, very, bad time.
He was just trying to walk home with his children, his very energetic chaos inclined children, when Ellie declared that she needed to use the bathroom. So, as any responsible parent would, Danny walked with her and Dan to the nearest building that would have an open to the public restroom. And while Ellie was busy using the little girl’s room, Danny focused to ensuring Dan didn’t bite anyone. Again. The last time he drew blood and Danny couldn’t apologise enough to the punk looking guy who seemed completely bewildered by what had happened.
All Danny remembered was apologising repeatedly, turning to scold Dan about biting strangers, and the young man muttering something about some guy named Tom (or was it Tim?) And how he was never going to believe what had happened.
So, safe to say Danny was more focused on watching his child and waiting for the other one than looking at the suspicious group of men that had just walked into the restaurant.
Because of course the first building Danny saw that might have an open bathroom was a fancy upscale restaurant, and not the fast food restraint two blocks down. Ellie had said she couldn’t hold it that long.
But now, Danny had a gun to his face, and his babies hidden behind him as much as he could manage while the two of them subtly tried to shove past him so they could beat the shit out of this butthead for daring to point a weapon at their dad.
Masked thug: Hand over all of valuables! Wallet, phone, everything! Be quick and nobody gets hurt!
Danny calmly reached into his pocket, and hoped that the situation would stay as calm as possible until the city’s local heir or the police could arrive. He didn’t want to have to reveal his or his children’s powers and potentially need to flee yet another city.
Danny: Here, just take it and go.
The thugs had grabbed what they could from as many people as possibly before bolting, leaving many of the patrons upset and shaken from the encounter. Danny quickly turned to his children and vegans looking them over, fussing and making sure they were okay.
Ellie: Dad you never let the guy near us. How could we have possibly gotten hurt?
Danny: With how much trouble you two like to get into, I’m not taking any chances. Now Dan-
Dan was gone. Dan. Was. Gone. Danny felt his chest tighten and his breathing becoming harder to control. Where was his son?!
Just as Danny was about to ask a waitress who had just finished giving her statement to a police officer if she’d seen where his son ran off to, Dan reappeared beside his sister with a sharp toothed grin.
Dan: Don’t worry dad, I got your stuff back. So you don’t have to be upset now!
