Is there a thread where someone talked about the horrific implications in Maternal Instinct?
Cause I'm about to.
Guys, Vlad is an insane creep, we know that, but he's also a scientifically educated insane creep.
All of those animals that he killed for their ghosts, all of them had a mutation. Extra limbs, bigger claws, more heads, eyes, ugh, grotesque things that changed how their spirits look even though normal animals don't normally have those problems.
Vlad calls them all spectral freaks when they turn on him. He created them, yes, he killed them and used their "pelts as wallart", but I hate every part of the implication that Vlad experimented on them and made them the way they are.
--
Vlad Masters brushes a stray white hair out of his face with the back of an ectoplasm-stained glove. The large figure in front of him twitches and groans and shudders on the table with what could have been breath if ghosts needed to breathe.
Despite that, the bobcat fidgets under the steel pins and ghost proof restraints as if it could escape. It's tail lashes back and forth in distress as if escape were possible from the threat above it. Vlad glares down into the glowing red eyes and the creature's long ears flick then the entire form stills.
The stupid animal recognizes the superior predator.
It's actual body was already cured, dried, and mounted on the wall with the others.
It's spirit is snug in place as Vlad moves the needle through once again pulling the glowing white thread taut.
Another stitch, then another through thick hair and he pierces through the ghostly flesh as if it isn't even there.
Ghosts are simple things made of ectoplasm and held together by the "memory" of what the creature thinks it looked like in life. It's too stupid to know any better, that it's exaggerated size is incorrect but all the better. The ones that fight back in life have bigger spirits which makes for a bigger ghost, a more vicious ghost. This one fought like it was rabid even as he had it cornered. It thought it was tough, that it had a chance to take him down.
He killed the bobcat faster than it took for it to feel fear. He bound its spirit easily taking it and the body back to his chalet.
Another stitch and the bear-sized creature shivers at the sensation but obediently stays still. Vlad looks over it with a calculating eye and the stitches hum with energy then dissolve leaving unmarred flesh behind.
He grins as four eyes blink at him and two mouths full of jagged teeth open and then close testing the new connections.
A two-headed bobcat ghost. No one had ever done it before, not even Skulker.
It was far easier to manipulate ghost flesh than previously hypothesized. Vlad smiles and dictates to the camera set up beside him as he pulls pins out of the cool flesh.
This has been easy, almost easier than equipping the extra arms on the bear ghost.
How hard could it be to do the same with a human ghost?
He laughs as the bobcat whimpers under his glove.
Probably not very difficult at all.
Ghosts in Gotham
Danny Phantom / DC Comics fanfic
Dedicated to: @dannyphantom-justiceleauge
Summary: The Batfamily has been through their fair share of the supernatural. That’s why they originally weren’t worried whenever ghosts started showing up in Gotham City. Until one day, something happens; Batman is captured and taken into the Ghost Zone. With no way to go in there themselves, the no way to fight the ghosts inside, the bats decide to call the person who can; Danny Phantom. Together, Danny takes Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown and Damian Wayne into the Ghost Zone before the Batman is lost forever.

Chapter 1:
-
Every city had its hero.
Gotham City? Batman. Metropolis? Superman. Central City? The Flash.
Amity Park? Danny Phantom.
Amity Park had mixed feelings about Phantom. Some said he was a helper, a true hero, keeping the town safe. Others said he was a criminal, doing nothing but wreaking havoc on the town. Either way, Phantom was known for one specific thing; fighting ghosts.
Which is what he was doing at the moment.
"I am!! The Box Ghost!!" a short, stocky ghost shouted. His eyes glowed blue and an aura of the same color surrounded the boxes crowding the back of a movie theater. "Beware!" he raised his arms and hurled three boxes at a figure who easily dodged.
"Come on, Box Ghost," a teenage boy with white hair and green eyes floating above the ground groaned. "I don't have time for this! I have to order the new Cheese Viking game before it sells out!"
"Beware!" The Box Ghost shouted again, throwing more boxes at the boy.
Danny Phantom rolled his eyes as his body became intangible, the boxes easily passing through it. He raised his arm, and a blast of bright green energy shot from his palm, hitting the Box Ghost square in the chest. The Box Ghost, with a grunt, was blown back into the brick wall of the movie theater.
Not wasting any time, Danny grabbed the thermos that he had strapped to his back and pointed it at the other ghost. In a flash of light, the Box Ghost was sucked into the thermos.
"Finally," Danny muttered as he took off into the sky.
Danny Phantom, his real name being Danny Fenton, was a sixteen-year-old halfa, or a ghost-human hybrid. He could switch between ghost and human form at will. He'd gotten his powers from an accident with the Ghost Portal, a portal in his home that was a bridge between the human world and the Ghost Zone, where every ghost resides.
Ghosts repeatedly escaped the Ghost Zone through this portal for one of three reasons; to wreak havoc on the human world, to kill Danny or both. Usually, it was the latter.
I lied this is the real, very serious cover art for my fic.
You ever see that one A Cinderella Story (2004) starring Hilary Duff movie poster? With the prom dress and the pink converse underneath?
Yeah. That's high art, right there. It can only be topped by the fact that in the actual movie, she tucks her bedazzled flip phone in the heel strap of her high-heels.
Danny's not gonna wear a dress for prom, and Dash definitely isn't wearing his jacket for it either, I just thought it'd be the funniest way to draw this poster.
Anyway, I actually have a bit of an author's note under the cut. So if you've been reading the fic I recommend you read on:
A Ghost-erella Story (yes that's what it's called) Chapter 5 is up!
Ideally I wanted to post this in a week or so, or when I had even more of the next few chapters written, but I've had a stressful day so am giving myself a little treat and am posting this now, instead.
Woe, Ghost-erella Story chapter 6 be upon ye.
Chapter 7 is in the bank- for some reason it will be an incredibly timely christmas special (this is sarcasm, for the love of fuck I need to invest in a calendar)
Chapter 8 is half written too yeehaw.
Chapter art-dump to go along with the very exciting (to me) update that A Ghost-erella Story yes that's what it's called officially has a beta reader!!! All currently posted chapters have been updated with writing that is actually legible and proper formatting.
Huge thank you to the wonderful @thegayonthemoon for helping me out with this! Check out their work!
I have had this idea for Danny Phantom for the longest time like during the original airing this has been an idea like what if the ghost boy of Amity Park was so incredibly popular that people started trying to look into the origins of their hero and this hot shot writer comes through and does a bunch of historical research unearthing old pictures of The Amity Blizzard of '43 or whatever where the only reported death in town was an unnamed vagrant boy who was described as being a dark-haired boy whose hair was white with snow.
And then they write and publish an article online/print the story of their historical fiction tribute to the boy who was lost in the snow(explaining his ice powers) and his desire for justice (because WW2 and nazis) and this is definitely who the ghost boy was and how he lived and died and all he wants now is to save everyone from monsters and keep people safe and he'll do whatever he can to stop evil from taking over the world, ya know, because he was too young to fight in WW2. His name was William and he died how he lived, invisible because of social-class reasons.
It's a well-written, tragic story that really paints young Invisible William in a good light and it's wildly popular and the town finds his story so powerful and Angsty and public opinion is high but the whole time Danny reads it at his computer whispering "What The Fuck" to himself in the dark.
