I have a Bridgerton question and let me start by making it clear that I have no intention of watching the show nor have a... "discussion" about this particular scene that I have a question about. I just want some context.
Go to the TL;DR at the bottom for just the question.
I came across a video on TikTok discussing a female on male SA scene in Bridgerton episode 6, season 1. I got curious and looked into it and, from what I can understand, Simon married Daphne and claimed he can't have children. Turns out he can, but doesn't want children and is lying to her about that. While having sex, Daphne then gets on top and doesn't stop moving despite Simon telling her to stop and he finishes inside her. They then have a fight about this and, as someone who has no fucking idea about the context... I have a hard time figuring out who to be pissed at.
Don't get me wrong, what Daphne did was essentially SA and that's not the part I'm unsure about - I just can't figure out if this Simon guy is a complete piece of shit as well? Again, doesn't mean what Daphne does is okay, but I'm just utterly confused why the hell he... married her instead of dying??? On her "demand"? And why didn't he just tell her "Hey I don't want to marry you cause I know you want kids and I don't". Wouldn't that have... solved the issue before they got this far? Cause she says he took advantage of her lack of experience and knowledge, but... why? And, also, if he didn't want to marry her to begin with, why does he seem more than happy to fuck her like that?
I don't know, I'm just getting a vibe that Simon is a creep. Again, just to really make sure no one misunderstands me here: no matter what he did or said doesn't warrant SA - nothing does. But what the fucking hell is going on???
TL;DR why does Simon not want children, why did he lie to Daphne about being unable to have children, and why didn't he tell her this BEFORE they got married?
