Just reread My Body Your Temple by daphnerunning and Galiko (From the Rot Next to You series) and uuuuuggghhh. This series genuinely is my absolute favourite depiction of MurderMedia and RadioStatic ever. I love how even though their human lives ended in tragedy, they still have a happy afterlife(after some trials of course).
Every time I think about MurderMedia, this series is the one I reference, bc it feels so true to the characters while also being fluffy and manic. I adore the two of them so much! I also adore how the authors inserted Huskerdust as a palate cleanser between the main course, and the way that they depict them also feels very true to canon. They’re both such messes lol.
Rosie is also a tonne of fun in this one! The wise, all-knowing and dangerously intelligent best friend fits her to a T!
I also appreciate how they made sure that none of the characters are too good as people, especially the way the authors handled the character of Vincent. Alastor tends to be easier to strike the balance with, given how open the show is with his flaws, but given that this fic was written before season 2 came out, I’ve read a lot of MurderMedia and RadioStatic fics from before S2 that fall into the trap of making Vox too… nice? Sympathetic?
While that may appeal to some people, personally I’ve always felt that even without the backstory of Vox being a serial killer, he would have been a pretty shitty person. Like yes, please have him be a ruthless, cold and uncaring person. Just because he’s never killed someone doesn’t mean he’s good by any means. I really love this depiction of Vox, and how by meeting Alastor, they both become weirdly nicer people (ongoing killings notwithstanding). My favourite part of the whole courtship is the love letters, because I’m a sap lol.
I’m definitely going be rereading the series, and I’ll definitely be dreaming up what happens after the ending. Like I fully believe in this universe that once the storm with Lilith blows over, they will be one of the most infamous power couples in hell lol. And they’ll be sappy, like sickeningly sappy.
Vox will absolutely be learning Creole when he gets access to the internet, and I fully imagine Alastor discovering this and them disappearing into one of their houses for a month while Alastor alternates between fucking and teaching Vox.
They also strike me as a couple to write each other love letters even when they’re only away for a few hours. Like, Vox leaves for work and puts a love letter in the entryway for Alastor, and once Al gets home he puts a letter on the counter in the morning for Vox.
I also fully endorse the idea that they decide to have a huge fuck off wedding, with Rosie and Nifty as Alastors maids of honour, and Husk and Angel as Vox’s groomsmen. The colour scheme is whatever Alastor wants it to be, and it’s absolutely extravagant, with delicious seafood and a tonne of jazz and swing dancing.
They also renew their vows every 5 to 10 years by going on a combination killing streak/honeymoon. By the second time this happens, all the overlords have the anniversary marked in their calendars to avoid any of their valuable staff being murdered lol.
Vox absolutely spoils Alastor with a big surprise every six months to a year though, most of which includes investing and building places like the theatre, a dance hall, and good Italian and French restaurants. Maybe even dabbling in creating a small private Bayou for the two of them? Alastor wards the shit out of it and it ends up becoming the place they retreat to for their honeymoon.
I also think in this AU Alastor might actually still help with the Hazbin Hotel, mainly because it makes him wonder what would have happened if he hadn’t taken on his mother’s contract. He likes to think that his mother would absolutely have been redeemed, and that tickles his interest enough that he helps out.
Vox wouldn’t really care that much about what they’re trying to sell, but since Al is invested, he’s happy create and run ads for the hotel. This actually cumulates in a lot more sinners being interested (in my mind).
Anyway, all this rambling to say: I adore the authors work, they have a masterful writing style, and I genuinely cried the first time I read this. Thank you so much for the wonderful story!
