Having thoughts about how gender affects people's perceptions of characters in the Odyssey...
If Calypso was male and Odysseus female, Calypso would almost definitely be considered a rapist. She has sexual relations with someone who is at best disinterested, and at worst unwilling.
However, instead it's considered if Odysseus "originally enjoyed it" and it's really not considered that being an unwilling participant in sexual situations could contribute to his willingness to go home and reach Ithaca.
This assumption that because Odysseus is a man, he is enjoying and willingly participating in these acts with Calypso and Circe, rather than being pushed, feels bad.
