The room was silent for a moment, but it didn’t feel that way--Darius opened his mouth, closed it again, and turned back to the window, biting his lip. Vitus attempted to ignore him by staring out at the sky, but he kept hearing Darius take a breath, as if to speak, and then nothing. It was a very quiet sound. It should not have been noteworthy.

“You’re not... intending to marry anyone, are you?” Darius finally asked, and after the initial hesitation his words came quickly, almost seeming to run together.
