Studying for the exam of contemporary Italian literature next week

I haven’t finished the books I SHOULD have read for the exam yet and I’m forced to read 20 pages of each book a day

Spilled tea on my notes today; I really should invest in a waterproof ink. It is somewhat fun to see the patterns left as the water dries, and what words I can make out afterwards.

In less unfortunate news, I successfully turned in a paper which means I'm one paper closer to the end of the term.

studied for the physics exam, lack of motivation cause of dense information. Prepared for the UCAT, scheduled to study for it an hour each day. New observations about my studying habits

I focus better with rain sounds in the background

I prefer having a timer to stop me from thinking I've studied a lot when I've only studied for like 15 minutes

Switching off phone because switching it on is a more conscious effort than to just find it from where you've kept it.

I grasp things better when I read notes rather than what I get from watching lectures.

Studyblr Introduction

Hi guys!! I'm El, I'm a high school student, and this is my studyblr/dark academia intro post! I really like the dark academia aesthetic, I think that's going to be a main theme in my blog, but I might throw in some other stuff too. I'm an aspiring lawyer. I plan on double majoring in Classics and some other humanity/social science (probably Psychology or Comparative Literature) before law school. I love reading and writing, I also dabble in classical music (piano, violin, pipa). My favourite books are To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee and The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.

It took a while but the weekend is finally here. As is my new fountain pen - a TWSBI Eco in black. It’s absolutely beautiful and has already integrated perfectly into my life. The nib is still a bit large for my handwriting despite being the smallest size, though that might be more of a personal preference. I’ve always had issues with how small my handwriting is, so this might help me break the habit and make my writing a bit larger.

Fountain pen refilling always means DIY tissue inkblot tests and ink stained fingers. I've been slowly draining this Diamine blue-black ink but there's a long ways to go.

I'm still working on this essay, unfortunately, but in the meantime I found a moment to read something I'm actually interested in. So, here's some more notes on the Evolutionary Origins of Stigmatization.

Midnight studies once again.  I’m unfortunately unable to sleep most days but I’ve found solace in the sense of peace that the dark brings. The isolation of night feels different, almost comforting. Everything always feels more quiet under the gaze of the stars. 

I'm working on something very different than normal tonight; a non-stem related essay for my side-job. Currently, though, I'm reading a paper on the Evolutionary Origins of Stigmatization from Kurzban and Leary. It's not at all related to the topic I'm supposed to writing about but I've been meaning to read it for a while and finally found the time today. Given the topic of social isolation, part of me wonders if I’ve been putting it off for reasons other than time.
