obi-wan: who forgot to turn their location off on snapchat?!
anakin & ahsoka: whoops
I was messing around on paint and made this
10, 13, 16!
10. characters that deserved worse? >:]
Definitely all of the white male politicians in the MCU. That one skeevy senator from The Winter Soldier. Ross. The other people who were probably involved with HYDRA who managed to spin it and keep their political careers. At least we got to see Fury take out Alexander Pierce. :) But yeah, all of them got off easy.
13. do you mind sequels that are completely different with a new plot and new characters or do you prefer they stay with the same story and characters?
Hm, I think I’m going to say that this one depends. Because of course, I would like to follow characters I know and love through their narrative ends. But I’ve also been.....burned before. (Look, I’m so tired of endgame couples from the original narrative showing up divorced and we have to play out all the awkwardness of their reunion and basically the same romance as before but different now. Like, I just want to see stable couples that remain together through sequels, is that too much to ask?) So I think, if their going to treat those original characters with respect and remain true to their characters, sure, let’s check back in with them! But if their narrative has been neatly concluded, honestly, I think I’d prefer all new characters in a plot that branches off and explores different aspects of the universe. Especially in these big sci-fi/fantasy universes, where there’s a lot of other ground to be explored. I even love a genre switch! Original was action/adventure? I’d be very interested in a horror take next, or a political drama, or a thriller, etc, etc!
Okay yeah, as I’m kind of thinking about it, I’m committing harder to preferring an all-new story and characters set in the same universe.
16. do you block people who like fandoms/characters/ships that you dont?
I don’t block people for liking fandoms or characters or ships that I don’t. I do block the tags if it becomes overwhelming. (Like with The Untamed. So much of my dash started getting clogged up with huge gifsets from a show I’ve never watched and know literally nothing about.) That’s also a helpful tip for sort of desensitizing yourself to the blocked tag posts! Before I blocked The Untamed there was this sort of tantalizing ‘oooh this post might hurt me, I’m going to click on it and make myself mad on purpose’ air to the blocked tag posts. Now I barely register them. So if you’re like me and can’t help but poke the thing that will hurt you, highly recommend finding some things you feel neutral about to block, even if it’s just a show you haven’t watched.
I also block posts all the time. This may sound nuts but I kind of think of it like...a little punishment for the post. So instead of being tempted to engage in discourse with it or getting stuck thinking about the imaginary argument I could have with OP, I get to sort of be like ‘no! bad post! bad!’ and then also, bonus, never see that post again. Win-win.
There are, admittedly, some people I have blocked. But that’s not for liking things I don’t, but rather the opposite and taking it to an uncomfortable degree. Sure if you don’t like the same things I do and only occasionally post negative stuff about it, not usually a big deal, I’ve got the tags blocked. If it’s excessive, I’ll just unfollow. But then there are people who take things to an extreme degree. I’m sorry to say, if someone takes their dislike for something and extends it to the real people (actors, writers, directors, etc) involved in production, or makes sweeping judgments of fans who think differently from them, or is overtly racist under the guise of critique (which I have definitely seen in the Loki fandom, just fyi), yeah, that’s a block from me.
I mean, or if you’re an anti trying to call me out lol, there were a couple people that tried to call me disgusting for supporting ao3 during one of those discourse flare-ups, those people got swiftly blocked.
Sorry to end on such a note! XD It’s fairly rare, but it definitely does happen. You have to craft your own fandom experience and yeah sometimes that involves blocking people.
[fandom asks]
i really love a queen's throne hehe <3
thank you 🥺, it’s one of my favorites too, actually! i literally read it every now and again!!! (aka too much to be socially acceptable probably)
facesitting will forever be my brand here in my writing, and i’m not ashamed of it.
READ A QUEEN’S THRONE HERE! // what’s your favorite fic of mine?
what are your favorite platonic & romantic relationships in tua?
heyeheheehehey thanks for the ask!
hmm well tua is an interesting beast, because while I’ve been a big time shipper in past fandoms, this one I’ve not spent much time on it. I think it’s because it’s an ensemble show, and with no one major or prioritised relationship (unlike you see in other common fandoms like Sherlock(John), Aziraphale(Crowley), Naruto(not existing))
but also, since I do like the main characters and their chemistry a lot, I’m very open to the idea even though I haven’t committed much energy or effort into it as of yet. I haven’t read much fic since joining fandom, which is 90% of the shipping diet, not because I don’t want to, I just haven’t had the brain power, and what little I do have, I’ve been using for giffing and art. So it’s mostly gen for me rn, but I have a few ships ear marked for further exploration... okay why am i babbling okay let’s see
platonic: Allison & Vanya. they’re such a sweet pair that deserves work, in the plot, to keep fleshing out. they’re flawed, and haven’t been the best sisters to one another, which means the payoff for growth is so much sweeter.
Luther & Vanya, I feel their palpable connection and potential is underrated. I could see this being one of, if not the best Hargreeves relationships on the show, if the writers are so inclined to put the work in.
Ben & Klaus, for obvious reasons. Rob and Justin just give them so much life, and work so, so well together. They’re brothers (affectionate) and brothers (enraging)
romantic: the truth is I can stick any of the siblings together and find an angle on it to enjoy. my brain clings to main characters with meaningful relationships primarily, so I’m not surprised that if and when I do ship, it’s among the 7. I’ve dabbled via the influence of some diverse friends who have ships, and what I have explored so far is good!
I didn’t start out an Allison/Luther fan, but the sheer amount of hate for it turned me into one with the power of spite. Now I can genuinely enjoy it because I love both their characters, and actually have an interesting relationship that I didn’t appreciate before. I think any ship involving Luther or Five would probably be easy for me to get into, as if I really had to pick, they’re my faves, and I find their romantic potential challenging and interesting. I’m sure beyond the ones I’ve mentioned, there’s plenty of other fun and interesting combos. I want to see lots of flirting and bonding, give me all of it. Sissy and Ray were great characters and their romantic subplots with Vanya and Allison respectively, while enjoyable and I understand the merit, the feeling of impermanence that comes with being a secondary/1 season character isn’t enough to keep me invested in the long term. Likewise, while I have a load of Klave shipper fans as friends, it doesn’t do much for me, as Dave is a concept and not really a character still at this point loooool. But I understand the merit there too, and it’s valid as any other ship.
i get on a train of thought, and it doesn’t stop until it wants to...anyways this got long sorry! thanks for the ask!
Happy holidays @darkalinas
