More Firefly Universe Online Info
I have been dying for some new information related to the upcoming indie MMORPG, Firefly Universe Online. So instead of waiting for news to tricle down, I sent an email to the developer of the game, Darkcryo Entertainment.
Craig Redl, one of the producers of the game, promptly replied with some awesome news for the future:
Come December we should be ready to release what we refer to as the Sandbox Alpha; an infinite roleplay environment for fans to get their Firefly fix. All of our titles are developed live, every variable polled, critiqued, and customized to fan specs. This is without a doubt the toughest lore to do, and transforming the Fans into the Games Devs is really the shiniest way to go. We're but a humble indie crew, however because we are the first to implement a transparent game development process that is completely 2.0, opens us up to AAA-sized trolling spotlight every step of the way. Definitely not an endeavor I'd recommend for the faint-hearted. Fortunately, our fans are loyal to the lore, and empathize with our struggle to get Firefly back in the sky."
There you have it! With December so far away, I'm disappointed to say that I won't be playing this game for a long time, but these types of games are big and take a long time for any developer. Not to mention, that sandbox MMORPG's usually don't turn out as well as they should. That being said, Darkcryo can take as much as they want to polish this game into something awesome. I'd rather wait nine months for a good game than wait any amount less for a shit game.
Oh, by the way, Craig also added that invites to the sandbox release would be sent out the week of March 19th. Get on Firefly Universe and sign us as soon as possible!
This is going to be exciting to see what happens next. There will be a constant stream of information on Darkcryo Entertainment's website in the near future, so keep an eye out for that. Until then, "Keep Flying and Stay Shiny."
